Hey Folks,
Tore down my 760, new pump cup, new o-ring on the valve,
New hammer spring...cleaned it up, back together. Highest I chronoed was 461
Using .177 wadcutters-accuracy was abysmal, seemed worse than before.
I am going to get that rifled barrel and that face bushing for the air port-anything else I should do during second teardown? Wouldn't mind cracking 500 fps though I'm not interested in serious mods.

How old is it? Rifled?
I would find a schematic, possibly there is a seal inside the valve you missed. Also check the transfer port seal,it may need to be replaced.
Personally I think wadcutters shoot a little slower anyway, being flat. JMHO.
Good luck with it.

It's a smooth bore, 2001. There's a rifled barrel a lot of folks swap in, $10 from Crosman.
Yeah, there are also some more seals, including the ones you mentioned. Now that I've had it apart I can iD them. Thanks.

Jesse: You may be interested in reading this post below by anti-squirrel, on his 760 mod's. I would think that he would be a Great Source of information 760's and could give you good advise on your gun.

Alright, thanks Tom. I notice a lot of folks get very into pulling as much power out of these things as they can-I have to confess I don't quite get that. I'll be happy with a modest bump in power and just to get some of the more glaring air leaks addressed. If I want real power I have other options.
That said, it's a nice little gun, I particularly like the solid brass valve, but it's pretty well made throughout.

If you order a barrel from Crosman, add in a pump tube for a Powermaster 66 and the pump linkage to go with it, they will drop in and increase the piston throw increasing the compression and I imagine you will be well above your goal.

When you order that barrel from Crosman you will find that the $4.00 flat shipping no longer applys to barrels. Just ordered a 1760 Barrel and cost me $11.00 UPS to Fl. Was told that they were getting orders of 10-15 barrels and were losing money on $4.00 flat rate. So now even one barrel goes UPS.
That will included any other items you order at the same time. That 1760 barrel cost me $31.00 shipped.

Good to know. I'm going to skip the barrel, I think–I have other air rifles for that kind of accuracy.
