vertical lockup inconsistency

How do i fix vertical lockup issues? New gun, will it wear in overtime? If i am careful and i close it nice and hard, it locks up tighter and if i do it consistently i get one hole groups, but if i close it too soft it hits low, and if i don't follow through and keep pressure on upon latching then it doesn't stay tight, and it still shoots low. Suggestions?

well, i removed the action from the stock and breaking and closing the action resulted in the same, stif solid lockup every time. i put it back in the stock and i realized that my home made sling strapped to the barrel was preventing a consistent, solid lockup. byebye, sling, lol! it does still require you to shut the breech firmly, though- but that's fine. she's a one hole gun

good deal
you could always put a sling stud in the stock in front of the cocking arm slot in the stock..

I might do that. I initially slung her so I could carry my shotgun, also slung, and alternate based on whether or not I'm on the trail of a hog. I think I'll just keep the shotgun slung when hunting small game, and on the off-chance that I see a hog I'll switch and remain stationary until it presents a shot. I don't think that they see that well anyway;)
