RWS 34 scope mount info
«

Well Santa showed up early at my house with a RWS 34 classic wood stock, Leapers 3-9X32 bugbuster scope, and a scope mount that the PA catalog said would work for the 34 but to me it doesn't look like it fits. I remember reading a few posts here or there about this subject but pretty busy today and not able to do a search to find out what to do. Somebody point me in the right direction. Is this a "return it to PA for a different mount" or is it a "modify this one" situation.
Thanks
Dan

You might also have a look at my mag-mount mounting solution. These are versatile and have a reversing peg that hooks to raised mounts like the RWS rifles have:

I ordered the UTG DN034,
https://www.pyramydair.com/product/utg-scope-mount-base-fits-rws-diana-34-36-38-45-with-to5-trigger?a=2298,
when I ordered my 34C. This mount does not fit properly on the 34C rifle because the 34C has a longer scope rail than previous 34s. The mount can be modified and it will then fit further back on the rail, but it may have too much compensation. The foot has to be removed from this mount in order for it to fit the 34C scope rail properly; otherwise it sits too far forward. PA said I could keep the mount and they would send me a new mount, so in the interim I removed the foot so it would mount properly. My 34C has some barrel droop, but not as much as the UTG DN034 compensates for.
I called PA and the mount they sent me to replace the DN034 is this one
https://www.pyramydair.com/product/leapers-accushot-1-pc-mount-w-1-rings-3-8-dovetail?a=805,
listed as a Leapers Accushot on their Website, but the packaging indicates it is a UTG Medium Profile (there is an Accushot logo in one corner of the card. The UTG Medium Profile doesn’t have any compensation and it shoots a couple of inches low but that was easily taken care of with a shim in the rear ring.
PA also recommended the RWS mount,
https://www.pyramydair.com/product/rws-lock-down-1-pc-mount-w-1-rings-11mm-dovetail-barrel-droop?a=2406,
but this is not currently in stock and the when it comes in the mount may be different. The RWS mount in the catalog has changed and is now a four-screw per ring cap mount and the amount of compensation has also changed.
The BKL 1-piece,
https://www.pyramydair.com/product/bkl-1-pc-mount-4-long-1-rings-3-8-or-11mm-dovetail-6-base-screws-007?a=2895,
mount may also work for you if your 34C doesn’t exhibit barrel droop. There is a pretty good article on the BKL here
http://www.network54.com/Forum/184474/thread/1211116222/1211411722/BKL-Dampa+Scope+Mounts+for+350+-+460+-+ANY+Magnum+Springer+-+Pictures+included.
PA sells the B-Square adjustable 1mm-to-Weaver mount,
https://www.pyramydair.com/product/b-square-17021-11mm-to-weaver-adapter-adjustable?a=601,
which is essentially identical to the Mag-Mount but without rings. Some time after the New Year I’m going to look into getting the B-Square mount and a set of police-grade tactical quick-release rings because I sometimes like to shoot without a scope.
It may take some time for the manufacturers of scope mounting hardware to redesign, retool, and begin to manufacture equipment that fits the new 34C.
