Because it's mostly a FT thing and the FT guys use side focus scopes with sidewheels, my searching for "sidewheel tape" yielded quite a few results on google, including the above, which seemed to have more suggestions on the actual tape than most other hits.You may benefit to scan a google search with similar terms though. Let us know what you find.

There are long-time FT shooters that predate most sidewheel focus scopes that tape the bell and continue to win.
Those with Bushnell elites etc ... a VERY popular OB focused scope been taping them for years.personally use inexpensive plastic tape ( harbor freight ) in YELLOW and a fine point Sharpy permanent marker.Once done a careful wrap of clear scotch tape over it protects it.
