Well, I finally did it: bought a brass flattop valve and flattop piston from "FreakyHarley" on fleabay. I already had a FT piston and was planning to flattop the existing (aluminum) valve in my Doomsday 2289, but the siren song of the brass valve kept calling to me. So I guess the piston I bought previously will go in my new 1377 while the '89 gets a new brass heart!

I have both the brass and aluminum and from a state with an average of 90% humidity I can tell you the brass valve seals alot longer.
I have a pumpmaster 760 brass valve I need to swap out in my 2289.

Yeah, that's what I've heard, and the reason I bought the brass valve. I haven't had aluminum-valved pumpers long enough for them to develop problems.
