Ruger Air Magnum - Seating pellets

I was experimenting with various pellet weights to find the best shooter. H&N Field Target, 8.49 gr
gave me a 7.25" 5 shot group at 30 yds. and H&N Baracuda, 10.2 gr shot to1.75". So I started
working up in weight to see if things got tighter. They did not until I got to the 16 gr Eunjin which also
shot 1.75".
However, on the way up in weight I noticed either the H&N Silver Point or the H&N Rabbit Magnum, don't remember which, would not seat all the way in the chamber. A short length of pellet skirt was sticking out. When I reset the barrel and reopened it I noticed the bottom of the skirt was pushed into the center of the pellet which would certainly ruin the air seal and unbalance the pellet. All weight pellets were loaded the same, seated with the same finger pressure.
Has anyone noticed if pellet length can be a significant variable?
Your experience would be appreciated?

I noticed the H&N FTT tried to stick out a little but I just gave them an extra nudge and they fit fine. It does have a slightly tight transfer port and I thought of just polishing it out just a little then found that the AA Field pellets almost fell out (plus they are junk huge fps spread). So I think I will leave it alone.

use the tip of a pen or a seater to clear the pellets, the shorter ones will fit but longer types need a bit of help...will also help accuracy
