Hey Phil,You're preaching to the choir Everybody's been saying what you said since 2012.Kirk
get a real scope, they start at $100
This makes two out of three OEM scopes from Hatsan that have failed. This time it's on my 95 Vortex .22 that I've only had a couple of weeks. The elevation screw is broken, and I'm debating if I even want to go through the BS fromHatsan like I got with the last bad scope. (The screw only moves 3-4 clicks each direction, and is wobbly.)They make you feel like you're an idiot, and can't tell junk scopes from good scopes. I should just order a new scope and not have to listen to their baloney. Anyone else get this attitude from Hatsan? FWIW, I don't give them any kind of attitude, but they get defensive out of the chute when describing the problem. The last scope, took several emails before they conceded to replace the scope, and said they didn't t want the bad scope back. I would think they would want to see what's wrong, but apparently not.Sorry, just needed to vent. IMO, they would be better off not putting these cheap scopes in the package, or giving an option to purchase a decent scope when ordering the gun. I digress...
The Hatsan's are absolute beasts when it comes to mounting a scope. Especially if not broken in yet. They can kill most top shelf scopes in short order.
I view the scopes on new air rifles for sale, as being " selling points." They look good & a buyer thinks he is getting more than he is paying for. I think about ALL brands , not just Hatsan , use the same , or about the same very cheap scope when selling their rifles. As stated many times above, get a good scope . Hatsan shooters here, can recommend one that will hold up .

I know this, which is why I've gone over to these bases on all of my Hatsans. With this mount I can easily swap out scopes without changing bases.Because I own 3 Hatsans and every one of them has been the same, the beastly part of trying to mount a scope has been the scope stop sits too far forward which makes getting good eye relief a problem. On mine, I took the stop plate off and just loctited one of the plate screws in the last hole all the way to the back and my rear ring sits tight against it very effectively stopping the scope from possibly moving backwards. For the eye relief issue, I went to Hawke Optics and got a set of their Reach Forward 2 Piece Match mounts and just reversed them. It gave me an extra inch to be able to slide the scope back to get the eye relief I wanted, used blue loctite on everything and hasn't moved or lost zero in over 800 shots. They've worked so well, I now have them on all 3 air rifles, 2 Hatsan .25's and a Umarex Fuel .22, plus a .22 Savage 64F which also has a Hawke scope on it. The picture of them on my 95 is down below. The original Hawke scope I put on my 95 was a Hawke Sport 3-9x40 HD AO that got mounted at about 100 shots. I switched it out because I wanted to try an IR version. That 3-9 has now been on 3 rifles...it got moved to the Fuel and used for about 400 shots before I got a 3-9 IR version for it and it now sits on top of my Edge .25 Vortex and has another 500 or so on it. 1000 or so shots may not be a lot, but 3 different rifles, all gas rams and it still works just as good as the day I got it...maybe I'm just a lucky s.o.b. but I was impressed enough with that first Hawke that I now have 5...I just bought one for the new XM25.As for Hatsans being scope killers, I can only base things on what I've seen posted here on the forum, but the only shooters I've seen saying they've killed scopes except for Joe, are the ones shooting the 125's and bigger and the guess would be the more powerful gas rams they use compared to the ones in the lesser version like my 95 and Edge.Sorry for being long winded and probably boring everyone but for a $100 or less you can get a good quality scope in any number of brands that will hold up better than the Optima's, but if anyone really wants an Optima, PM me and for the cost of the shipping, I'll happily send you the 3 new ones I have and never used, although IMO, save that money towards the cost of a better scope.
