I'm fairly new to airguns but was walking around a local fleam market and saw old looking air pistol when I picked it up I saw Benjamin on the side and recognized the name...its a model 137 with worn finish and no rear sight but shoots good with plenty power... paid $30 for it hope I didn't over pay...any info anyone has on it would be much appreciated...serial # B20542. I will try and get some pics as soon as possible

Post some pictures. It is a really old pump air pistol designed to shoot indoors. It will never be a powerful gun but it's really cool and collectable. I talked to Tim and Sue Smith several days ago and Sue showed me a Benjamin 137 or 132 they are restoring. If you want to restore it I know they have some parts guns and can most likely fix it up for you. There's a link to their site in the Air Gun Retailers gate. That's a great find and $30 isn't a bad deal as long as it's fixable.
Bryan
After looking at some more information on the 137 the pistol Sue showed me is probably older than yours. I'm still sure they could help you with fixing it up.

Here's a picture...was taken with phone so sorry about less than perfect quality...about 50% of the dark finish has worn off but still holds air and shoots

That pistol looks like it's in pretty good condition to me. I wouldn't mess with it much other than getting a new rear sight. You should always keep air in it so pump it a couple times before you put it up. If it doesn't hold air it needs a reseal. You should be able to put it up for months without it losing air.
I would have paid $30 for it.

Should I pull the pump piston out and clean all the inside up or no?...like I said I'm new to airguns...done a lot of gunsmithing on regular firearms but not air guns

Put two pumps in it and see if it holds the air over a couple weeks. You can dry fire it without hurting anything. Pump it two times, shoot it and take note of the sound. Put it up with two pumps for two weeks and if the sound is the same it's good and doesn't need a reseal. I wouldn't do anything to it internally if it holds air. All you will need to do is clean it up a little and find a rear sight. I like things that look old. Some folks like to blast all the paint off to the brass but to me the original patina is better. The brass look also makes it hard to shoot in bright conditions. What ever you do don't use a metal brush or regular gun cleaning solvents of any kind to clean the bore. The fact is that this type of air gun really doesn't ever need cleaning. You can run a patch with oil on it through it and then a dry one if you want but it really doesn't matter. The barrel is brass not steel and a metal brush can ruin the rifling.
