I just ordered 2 Kits from Tim to reseal both of mine. one is a '61 to '68 model and the other is the late '50's model. The '61 will pump but leak air out the barrel on occassion. The 50's model works pretty good. I just want both of them to be completely refreshed. Tracking says I should have the kits on Saturday and I plan to get right after them. If I run into anything that I think might be useful to you I will be sure to pass it on. I do know that that quad seal in the rear firing cap can be a bear to get in right. I suspect my issue is with the front check valve. ( I don't know proper terminolgy). It appears to be delrin like someone may have resealed it at some point. Betty Lou is eager to learn and reseal her's right along side of me. MAN!! I love that woman.... lol.... sorry, I'll try to contain.
I would take it down again and double check everything. The first pump is what sets that rear cap into fire position. I suspect you have something backwards. It's easy to to do on these because some things will fit both ways. For example... there is a collar in there that has a pin thru it that knocks that cap back in when fired. The collar has a small threaded hole that is postioned to the front of the collar. That hole needs to be towards the valve. Watch a couple You-tube videos.. (not many out there) and see if you might have something in wrong.
What is doing when you pump it? Can you hear the air pass through?Bryan
Either Avator is right and something isn't installed right or is backwards or you need to clean the valve out better. You need to tear it back down and go over it with a fine toothed comb. Clean the valve out and use a loop or some other magnification to make sure it's clean. Look at the check valve with a loop to see if it is damaged. If it's okay GENTLY tap it to seat it in the valve with a hammer before you put the valve back together. If you hit it too hard you will ruin it. A couple of soft taps with a 16oz or lighter hammer will work.Bryan
Yes, same gun. When you unscrew the valve halves there is a check valve in the front half of it. I can't refer to the part on your diagram because it don't show a breakdown of the inside of the valve. Anyhow, he is referring to tapping on that check valve to seat it better onto the front half of the valve. This should be done very carefully as not to damage the check valve or the valve half itself. You can also clean the valve out real good with a q-tip and alcohol. The check valve in mine is made from delrin, a hard form of plastic. I don't know if mine is an original part or a replacement. I would guess replacement. I am also guessing this is where my gun is leaking. I had it apart a few days ago and replaced a couple o-rings from a Harbor Freight o-ring kit. It held for a couple days but then started leaking out the barrel again. That is why I ordered the rebuild kits from Tim. You stated that yours is leaking from the transfer port. Not sure if we have the same issue. Thanks Avator, I guess i am just not familiar with the 140. Tomorrow I will take the whole thing apart and look at everything very closely as both of you have suggested. I will get back here with the results this weekend. Thanks again to both of you for staying with me as frustrating as I must be, [Old-Whats-Her-Name tells me that all of the time]Regards, gkenny.
