Thinking of Getting the Maximus - What Are the Best Mods Now?

I'm finding it difficult to ignore the Crosman promotional special that can put a .22 Maximus in my hands for $169 plus shipping. From what I am reading, the stock Maximus is accurate, fairly powerful and can provide a decently consistent 20-shot string. I would like to increase the performance without losing track of it being a budget PCP. So what inexpensive mods have you found that worked well to:
- Increase the power and efficiency and the shot-to-shot consistency (short of installing a regulator);
- Improve or replace the trigger /trigger assembly;
- Further enhance the accuracy?
- Quiet the ping?
I have seen bits and pieces on this general topic sprinkled through the forum over the past year, but am asking again for any updated mod parts that techniques that may be available now that were not before.
Thanks very much, gentlemen.

I hope I get some expert input here - I need it!
So this is what I am thinking of getting for basic mods to improve power and shot-to-shot consistency:
- Some kind of hammer debouncer / power adjuster (does someone on this forum make and sell one?);
- Either a Baker Airguns brass trigger (
https://www.bakerairguns.com/product/discovery-triggers/
) or a Marauder Gen 1 trigger;
- 2 additional barrel bands
- Extended bolt probe from Alchemy Airwerx?
How does this sound? Anything to add or subtract?
Many thanks.

others have had good experiences with the maximus but i havent,so dont think all of the maximus are like the 2 i have recieved,but just words of caution.
sent back the first one to crosman for terrible accuracy,
the second one wasnt much better,many odd flyers in no predictable directions.
polished the transfer port because it was cutting the pellets as they were passing over it when loading.
found marks from the crown cutter in the end of the barrel so i chopped the barrel off a hair more than a quarter inch and recrowned,
but it still shoots with the same unpredictable flyers.
as for the trigger a new trigger isnt needed if you do the 2 or 3 screw trigger mod,
can get it very acceptable and light,
i used the 2 screw and mine is light and crisp and cost less than 50 cents for the screws (marauder trigger would be head and shoulders better though)
as for your other questions im sure others will chime in.
sadly im probably going to have to end up getting an LW barrel to remedy my accuracy problems.

Sounds like you got it right. I'd say Mrod trigger for sure. Makes a world of a difference. Extended bolt works great. I haven't necessarily found the need for extra barrel bands but definitely wouldn't hurt either. I don't think there's any debounce products for them that I'm aware of but a power adjuster does just fine. Lastly I'd say something to hush it. Either TKO or Rocker1 will do.

Should I also be looking to get a new hammer spring? I see that mentioned here and there.

Gentlemen, after clarifying my goals and doing more research I have decided to purchase a Benjamin Discovery instead of a Maximus. Thanks very much for your great suggestions in this thread.
The search is on for a good used / refurbished Discovery..

To muddy the waters a little. If you need a pump, Walmart has the Maximus kit for less than $300 shipped. That includes rifle, Benji pump, spinner, safety glasses and pellets.

YES! The cocking force with the OEM spring is quite high. Get a 0.042"x 1.5" heavy P-rod spring from Hill Airguns. It lowers the cocking force, increases shot count and still keeps the velocity up over 900 fps.
