Max out Benjamin disco pump?

I'm wondering in a pinch if anyone has ever tried using a disco or similar hand pump to try and achieve pumping up a big bore type air rifle? If so what's the capability of a pump like that? I need to know this..thanks

Hello, Shane.
It all depends on what pressure you're working at. A Benjamin pump will do just fine to 3,000 PSI - caliber doesn't matter. 3,000 PSI is 3,000 PSI. The big question is volume and how long it will take you to reach that level of pressure - and how quickly will your hard work be drained by shooting. I've got a Hatsan Nova and the Benjamin pump will take it to 3,000 PSI just fine (but my Barska pump is necessary to finish off the 250 BAR fill). Since it's a .177 caliber and I've got it tuned to around 20 FPE the air lasts quite a while when shooting. If you're dumping huge quantities of air to push heavy pellets through a large bore, your half hour of work may disappear in just 8 or 10 shots. With a small bore that same amount of air might yield 40-50 shots or even more.
So it's not about the caliber, its about how long it takes to recharge the reservoir and how quick that labor is sent downrange, emptying the reservoir.

I'm a peaceful man and prefer the pursuit of peaceful sports. Those involving teams and balls of any sort tend to be deleterious to one's body and promote violence by both spectators and participants. The shooting sports, however, tend to promote self control and are peaceably participated in by those who know that their greatest challenge is their need to continually hone their own abilities.

Thanks for the response, I'm wondering what a cheap way to achieve 4500 psi until I can grab a nice compressor. I will probably buy a carbon bottle but I hate the dependency of a business to fill that for me.

I've pumped my Benji pump to 4k psi. It will do it but not easy.

I used an Air Venturi hand pump to fill my Recluse with 500cc double tank, it took about 200 slow steady strokes to fill from empty around an hour with cool down breaks for the pump and me. , or about 80 after 10 shots about one good session, 15 minutes to top off.
