Rainstorm from Pyramyd Air

My 2nd used .22 Rainstorm from Pyramyd Air arrived in excellent condition a few days ago. I had sent the first one back because it had scratches on the airtube and some baffle parts were missing and some were damaged from pellet clipping. When I ordered the 2nd one I had asked PA to inspect it before sending it out. It still bugs me PA sometimes send such poor stuff out the doors unless you ask for an inspection first. However you cannot beat their customer service and they will make any problems you have right. At least that's been my experience with dealing with them.
I have about 200 pellets through my Rainstorm now and can report I'm very happy with it. It shoots the 21 gr. H&N's I had on hand very well. It even groups 14 gr. cheapo Benjamin Discovery pellets pretty well. I didn't do any mods to the baffle system on this Rainstorm and so far I have not noticed any problems with pellet clipping.
Another thing I like about this airgun is it's light weight and handling characteristics. It just comes to shoulder nicely and seems to fit me well. If anyone has any questions on my experiences with this Rainstorm I'll be happy to answer them. Nomadic Pirate was right, these Rainstorms are nice and I appreciate all his input on them also.

glad to hear this as i am considering buying one. on a different note, my experience with PA has been anything but good( long story- suffice it to say i have spent well over a thousand dollars with them this year and still got the royal run around with a problem THEY created by sending out a faulty piece of equipment that cost less than $100). my dilemma is this- does anyone else sell Evanix rifles?

Glad you like it, if you want to increase power there's a big screw at the back that you can screw it in untill it doesn't cock anymore, and than screw back out slowly untill it cocks, like that you get max power with the stock hammer spring,...and than try the EunJins
Keep an eye on those baffel cages, as soon you see some clipping change them, one more thing if you get sudden inconsistency with accuracy give the barrel a good clean.
enjoy the beast
, .........lately I've being nailing mynah birds at well over 60 yards consistently

Tunaboat, I saw in your profile that you have a Marauder and Katana as well. Can you compare the Marauder to your Rainstorm? Is it significantly lighter and is there any difference in accuracy? Also, what do you think about the trigger as compared to the Marauder?
I love my Marauder but just cant help thinking about another pcp. Was just wondering if the Rainstorm is a next step up or should I look for even more in my next gun. Thanks and enjoy!

I'll bet you are thrilled with that gun, i can't really think of any other gun in the marketplace with a similar combination of features, short and light but shrouded and powerful. I love my marauder but know i will cheat on her one day.. with a rainstorm
Glad you're having better luck with this 2nd gun, pyramid really is a good company imo, J

Thanks for the comments guys. I had a chance to shoot the Rainstorm some more since my first post.
Jonnnyboy, my Mrod is a .177. I can try to give you some comparisons and my opinions on the two.
Size: The Rainstorm is much lighter and shorter. Stock fits your hands better. Less bulky, slimmer feel to it.
Accuracy: So far my Mrod has a very slight edge. Just because I haven't found the "perfect pellet" for the Rainstorm yet. I don't have a large variety of pellets to try here and non of the real heavy stuff the Rainstorm seems to prefer. I'm still impressed how it shoots the 14gr. Benjamin Discovery pellet. The Katana shoots those like a shotgun.
Trigger: I did the spring mod to my Mrod and the trigger is very, very light. I have to be sure I'm on target before I think about compressing it. I would describe the stock, out of the box,Rainstorm trigger as a good hunting trigger. It can be adjusted, and further tuned I'm sure. I haven't messed with that yet.
dollarhunt, sorry to hear about your bad luck with PA. Otherwise I would recommend buying a used Rainstorm from them. The big thing is to request an inspection of the airgun before they send it to you. It doesn't seem like PA opens any box's up on their used stuff and just sends it on to the next buyer. Actually I would request an inspection on the new airguns as well. I sent two Katanas back to PA before I got an acceptable one. The stock inletting on those were horrible. I blame Crosman for letting those two leave the factory and PA for passing them on to a customer.
Nomadic Pirate thanks for the advice on the Rainstorm. I nailed a starling at a lazered 40yds this morning and got a big kick out of the puff of feathers. It's quite the hammer for sure.

Great take on your new Rainstorm Butch. I have been looking very hard at the Rainstorm for months now..
I love carbines to say the least...
Also great take between the ergonomics of the M-Rod and Rainstorm. I think I am going to love my new Rainstorm when I get her...
Thanks for sharing
