Been wanting something that has a little more power and better quality than the Daisy Powerline 880 I wore out. Is the 392 worth the money?

Oh yes, it's more than worth the money.
If you get one you will enjoy it for a long time.

Time tested reliable performer!!!! One of the best values overall for your money!! Very good gun from the factory, but lends itself well to performance mods... Although a complete build will cost almost as much as the rifle it WILL double the power.... I actually just clocked my 12+ year old Sheridan Billet Steroid built by Tim at Mac1 12+ years ago...... It shot a 14.3gr Benji cylindrical 760fps on 13 pumps for about 18ftls... At 13 pumps managed to launch a 25gr Eungin(huge un) 650fps for almost 24ftlbs.... It also shoots 1 inch @ 50yds... GO BALLISTIC!!!! Greg

Yup, and with a little trigger work and good maintenance you have a lifetime shooter.
392 is a keeper, harder to pump after the first 5 pumps than your 880 but, waaay more power and accuracy and durability, etc.
Plenty of info for mods and scope attachments on the web, just do some research on this forum and google.

No thirteen pumps in a stock 392. That's for "Steroids". Been considering picking up a good Steriod 392 one of these days. If you get a new 392 w/o any upgrades, do buy the Williams 5D peep sight for it. Mounts right up and is very trim. About as good as a scope. If the Bid Ed's SuperSear is still available, it will give you a better trigger, too. These are really under-rated guns for the money.
PS - If you go used, steer clear of the early "transition model" 392's. These are identified by a stamped steel trigger guard and a pull or tab type safety at the rear/top of the wrist. Can't do much with the triggers which are heavy. The later, cast guards with the cross-bolt safety button have much more potential.

first of all , the older benji 392s seem to shoot better than the new ones, tim tells people if you can find a good shooter now , to send it to get steroid, some dont shoot well , some because of of the overspray issue , once ckleaned they shoot, some just dont shoot well, i have 3 steroids and 3 stock 392s , some mare older racine wisconsin 392ps, i think generally the 342s are more accurate as i have 3 of those also, if you find a new one that shoots good by all means steroid it, as far as doubling the power??? no you get about 33 percent more, tim does a great rebuild, , and if you get a steroid id also get dovetail groove scope receiver treatment , they are good guns , the older the better , the new ones do not compare as well overall, doesnt mean you cant fund a good new one , but id go older pre 91 abouts i guess

I am sorry if I mislead anyone on my Steroid energy figures.... I thought a stocker made around 12ftlbs... My gun was built by Tim at Mac1 more than 12 years ago and has seen a lot of rounds and a LOT of mishandling and abuse and it does make almost 24ftlbs!!!!!! I was trying to lay testimony to the quality of the work that was done to my rifle and to the durability and reliability that has lasted through the years!!!! I also have a 'C' and a 392, all with the Billet Steroid treatment. Definitely worth the investment!!!!!!!! GO BALLISTIC!!!! Greg

NCShooter brought one to my house yesterday to chrony. It was roughly 1949-53 vintage in .20 caliber and was still putting pellets down the barrel at just over 500 fps. avg. the exact number escapes me. Now he did tell me he put in a new seal but your talking a gun almost 60 years old! I would say yes, they are reliable and well built!
