Daystate Pulsar

I saw and handled the new Pulsar today at the Shot Show. The rifle is a bull pup and a side lever. I think that is going to be popular in the United States but a stretch for more triditional users in the UK.
It is electronic, and it is the replacement for the the Mark4.
Cost is projected to be $2700 in the US, That is about $100 more than an Air Wolf.
Other news. The 12 FPE Air Ranger has had its last production run, but the Air Ranger Extreme (80 FPE) will still be made.

Thanks for the news Ron!!
There was a post on the yellow about this rifle and it was, to put it mildly, not received well at all.
There were complaints on just about everything.....scope rail, weight, looks and price.
I'm glad there is still new stuff coming out!!

Wonder why they did not get the weight down, seen somewhere 8.2 lbs. I would think a BP should weigh no more than 6.5 pounds and preferably less than that. Looks like something on the old Star Trek shows. The ,Cricket,Vulcan & Hummingbird are way more appealing to me. But looks ain't everything. I am sure some will love it.

I was out in Vegas for KBIS (actually working 2 days), and the shot show was running at the same time. Never had time to go over there, walking KBIS and entertaining in the evening. From everything I read, so far, nothing AT ALL exciting was presented, regarding air guns. Especially that ugly new bullpup, that I heard was $2900.00. What kind of fools do they take us for ..... oh yeah ... don't answer that. They may be running out of innovative ideas. They can't put money into the less expensive guns for the masses, their core market, and Selling super high end innovative airguns alone, will not sustain their overhead. I'm kinda liking the high end "electronic" darkside guns, not BP's .... wish someone would invent a way to not have to be tethered to the gun with ridiculously expensive fiber tanks etc. Maybe someday.

I groaned inwardly when told at the Shot Show that the price would be $2700. Tony Belas must have read it on my face, because he quickly added that that price was $100 more than the current generation of the Air Wolf. I guess it is all relative.
The Pulsar has new electronics designed to be more transparent than the preceding generation of Daystate electronic rifles. The system comes on or returns from standby by working the action or disengaging the safety. Gone is the key and the on/off switch. Included is a laser pointer that is programmable to come on when the system becomes active.
Since the 1950s bullpups have brought strong reactions from their fans and others not favorably deposed towards them. Air guns lend themselves to design innovation, and bullpups are another avenue for designers to follow.

There has been a bit of confusion about the Pulsar being the replacement for the MK4. DayState hasn't revealed the successor of the MK4 but will do so in the future.
I have broken out the differences between the Limited Edition ORO Pulsar and the Standard Pulsar below. This is still preliminary information as the PULSAR isn't in production yet so info is subject to change.
PULSAR Standard Version: $2699 MSRP
Stock available in Walnut, Laminate and Synthetic
Various color options for fore-stock and inserts
3 Power Settings (20fpe, 30fpe, 38fpe)
Integrated Laser Sight
Reversible cocking leaver
Reversible cheek piece
No on/off switch, turns on by cocking gun
More shots compared to older rechargeable battery
Bubble level in back of scope rail
GCU Electronics housed in water-tight box
Cross bolt safety catch
Bolt-open deactivation
Anti double-load mechanism
PULSAR Oro Special Edition: $2995 MSRP
(In addition to the features of the Standard PULSAR)
Limited Production of 200
High Grade Walnut Stock
Match Trigger Blade
Gold Plated Gauge Plate

I think Daystate was swayed by feedback ,The success of the Bobcat and tried to copy it. I think the Bobcat craze has already wanted as the market is starting to get saturated with more and more companies offering bullpups in the U.S.
