Quattro Trigger Frustration !!!

Calling on Quattro trigger tinkerers' !!
The Quattro trigger is the last part of my Hatsan 95 that sometimes eludes me.
I've adjusted the trigger pull/weight using longer screws pretty well, while maintaining shooting safety.
Unfortunately, on two Quattro triggers that I worked on, the trigger mechanism will not engage the piston when cocking.
I know the trigger screws can be adjusted so the gun will not cock, but this occurs no matter where the trigger screws are placed (in or out). For some reason the trigger piece that engages the piston is not being pushed
back enough to click into the piston. If I replace this two-piece part (connected by a spring)
only
, the gun cocks just fine?
Now I lightly sanded all trigger parts to smooth their large flat sides, and hit the critical edges with some 320 and 500 carborundum, but didn't remove that much material - I think???
Somebody must have encountered this problem before and solved it. The solution is probably pretty simple - I hope.
Not just replacing the parts......
Any ideas would be appreciated!!

Not sure Kirk and hopefully someone will chime in soon. I have that system on my Webley Patriot and have yet to put a screwdriver to it to adjust. I like where it is set right now. Hoping you a great outcome soon.

I would say it is not put back together correctly.
I have done the same thing with all my quattro systems and never had an issue.
make sure it is installed and re-assembled correctly

Yeah Boomer,
Since the reassembly is petty straight forward so I'm at a loss as to why it doesn't work?
Like I said before, when I replace the top two pieces (connected by spring) with untouched parts, it works - no problem.
So it seems the minor sanding/polishing I did on the two parts is the problem??
I will break it down and reassemble again, but this is PMO big time!
Bottom line, I want to understand to Good/Bad design of the Quattro trigger and a few basic adjustments to enhance my shooting.

the part directly above the trigger where it contacts the part to the right, is the sear and release.
if you filed too much RIGHT there where they come together, it will not hold. I smooth mine out so they are easier to pull but if you get just a mickey whisker too much off that contact point the parts are fubar

Boomer,
The two parts I
can
replace causing the trigger to work normally are the two top (north) pieces connected by the main spring, not the bottom pieces connected by the lower (rear/right) trigger adj. spring.
When I install the trigger (it is ready to be fired), but because the upper left hook (big arm) will not click into the piston slot during cocking the gun obviously can't be fired.
I feel like I'm staring at the problem in the face, but can't see it

I love tinkering with things thinking I can make it better but the quatro trigger on my Hatsan AT44s is good out of the box and I will not be fooling around with it

I have been told that the best way to make the trigger better is to replace the small spring behind the trigger with a lighter one. I have not done it to my rifle but probably will soon because the warranty has run out.

Its all about the positioning aty assembly of the two sears joined by the spring. Take the gun apart, pull out the spring, put the piston back in, then work the piston back and forth and observe how the trigger engages. You'll have an "AHA!" moment.

Thanks Paul68 for chiming in on a delicate GTA subject,
However, I don't know what "aty assembly" means?
Do you mean take out the piston out from the compression chamber??
As you know the piston can be rotated a bit depending on the cocking slot wiggle room. Or do you mean move the two trigger pieces side to side within the trigger housing so it will line up better with the piston clocking slot?
As I've said before, I've taken the two trigger pieces that are looped together (with spring) out and replace them with two new factory OEM pieces. Once done the new trigger pieces engages the piston just fine. It's only when I use the two trigger pieces I sanded, that the trigger doesn't click into the piston slot. Hence, I can get the gun to work w/o removing the piston assembly!
As you can probably see, I'm confused.
Thanks for your help, sometime my writing misses the mark too.
I know I'm close to that "AHA!" moment !!

The Quattro has some quirks that can get you in trouble very quickly. I'm kinda pressed for time atm, but I meant "at assembly", just a typo.
What I mean with my post is, simply remove the main spring and put everything else back as it was intended, then work the action as if it were being cocked. You'll find that how the sears engage depends on how they are installed. There are two ways to do it, install them engaged together with the sears locked, which makes it easier to get the trigger assembly back together, and with them not engaged, which makes putting the assembly back together a challenge.
What happens is that the sears when installed locked together can end up misaligned when they drop at cocking, resulting in the sear actually blocking the piston from fully travelling back into the engaged position. It's been awhile since I had the Quattro apart, but I am pretty sure you can assemble the trigger setup with the sears engaged, then get the rifle together, then disengage them manually with a probe or screwdriver and make sure they fall properly by working the action before putting the rifle back into its stock.

Hey Paul68,
I finally got a chance to use your Quattro trigger tip from the other day.
And I'll be a SOB
if it didn't work the first time I tried it!
Wow, that problem was "Tearing Me To Pieces" #%^$#*.
Thank you so much !!!
