2400KT... offset breech screw hole??

Is this common? The front breech screw hole(s) are offset, quite a bit, to the left. Not enough to simply drill to the right, but enough that it reshapes the seal, and slightly cocks the metal insert.
Is there any reason why I can't put a stouter screw in (straighter)? It's a rear screw mount (long steel breech), so there wouldn't be any pellet chewing.

I had a misdrilled Crosman Disco tube recently.... it appears Crosman are having QC problems that they need to be made aware of.... In my case, the transfer port hole and the two 4-48 tapped holes for the front breech screw were all drilled too far back, by about 0.025" (roughly a third of the diameter of the screw hole).... far enough you couldn't put in the 4-48 breech screw.... and the transfer port was grossly misaligned with the hole in the valve.... There was no way you could bolt on a Disco breech....

This is the kind of thing you should expect... on an old B3.
I'm going to fit a heavier screw, I'd like to float the upcoming barrel. I've found no other flaws (except, let's face it.. the trigger) in the gun, and it was running great until I tore into it. Time for a tiny mig weld. Oh, joy!
I'm not impressed. This is precisely the kind of stuff that can add enough labor to push a project right out of cost effectiveness, and right into the cost of better base guns. I bought this gun to customize... not fix.
