Benjamin Trail NP trigger mod

I installed a GRT-III into my Benjamin Trail NP and am interested in lightening the trigger pull. The adjustment is fine with very little creep I just want to reduce the pull a little. Can anybody point me to the right area of the site. I am sure this has been covered before. I am new to the forum. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest taking the sears out and polishing them (very high number sand paper, not removing material) and then put it together with a light coating of lube (moly is ideal). This helped my NP2 greatly with the CBR trigger, it removed all the "gritty" feeling to the trigger. Ideally the trigger pull on that gun with the GRT3 should be light from factory setting with the spring they provide with it.

Thanks for the suggestion Ben. I have been studying more about tuning. I really wanted a light predictable trigger for target practice, but after reading the "Do's and Dont's and losing a finger" on CharlieDaTuna's web site I think I need to just polish the sears as you suggest. I had no idea that a break barrel could snap back into a locked position during an accidental discharge while loading with fingers in the Breech.
After reading more about two stage triggers I have a better appreciation for them and just need more practice. The pcp rifles are looking pretty good and a couple of them are on the wish list.

All the NP2's I've shot had terribly heavy triggers (for me). They greatly detracted from the ability to hold on target while squeezing one off.
I tried a lighter spring, polishing and lubing the contact points, and when it was finally light enough (under 2lbs), it would no longer return the trigger from a balk pull. Once you start squeezing, you HAVE to follow through. I hated it, but I might just be spoiled from a Rekord and a tuned Marauder trigger.
As nice as my Piatt tuned 909s is, I still find that trigger lacking in comparison to my other air guns, but it is my only .45, so I have to tolerate it.

Wimpanzee I believe you have nailed it. If the sights are set (iron or glass) and the breach seal is good along with the break barrel shims and barrel bore (lapping) along with the barrel crown the only thing left is the trigger?
I don't think I will ever become accustomed with the heavy trigger pull. If I know the trigger break is predictable it's easy for me to line up and drop down onto the point of aim and let it go. Can't do it with a heavy and unpredictable release.
Thanks, G
