I'm just working on the premise that it's a tinkerer's dream to enjoy.
What sound like complaints are more like sour grapes that I didn't see the site when GENI was available. Having missed that, hurts a LOT more when you're on a severely fixed income.
Doing my best to enjoy making lemonade... apologies for lapses, no offense intended.
There can be no insult to the raw materials if one just wants to make it even better,
and I thought that was the idea here anyway. I was aware of what it is, just not of
the total cost of the glaring differences in GENs.
(OK, I sort of was, but tried in vain to fix it in ordering.)
I'll be enjoying this project a lot more when Thursday's surgery gets me off the pain and the painkillers,
and my body allows me to again do what the wife calls "playing 'human drill press."
- and when finances are replenished next month..
Here's a pic of a VERY early mock-up - fixtures loosely placed,
so the tank will go around 1/2" closer to the gun on final torquing of the 'doped' npt's.
(Also, sorry, the receiver got tilted up at the rear, while I was arranging the shoot.
It's just temporarily laid into the stock, as is the trigger group, and actually matches the stock very well when screwed down. I just did this for length comparisons, to help me visualize a tank mount and possibilities for moving it back.)
Meanwhile it's time to do lots of tapping (valve and bolt,)
grind a couple of taper taps into plug taps, (repeat,)
then grind the plug taps into bottom taps, (repeat,)
-and then get out the "hillbilly lathe" to make a QB (CO2) fill plug
into a two (113) ring FDPCP HPA plug, and fit it to take the FD cap.
Next month I can afford the 113's and a new square/"O"-ring. (.oO 113 or 114?)
-and an M8 counterbore, a metal barrel band, and a lever kit.
Eventually I'll need a more cosmetic bottle support than the interim hose clamp it's slated for.
I envision sort of a 3-way barrel band, encompassing barrel, tube/stock, and tank with a short
rail bottom for a bipod)
And I need a way to extend the regulator/tank BACK (something better than $20/inch from CP...)
Eventually I want to move the tank back afap, but without giving up any plenum length.
If anything the new tube will be longer when I go 'through tube' and MUCH longer barrel,
maybe 4500psi - maybe bullet barrel, if they make them LONG- ~4-5', Kentucky Long Rifle Sniper.
("anything worth doing...." LOL)
