RWS Model 26 power

Does anyone know if it is possible to increase the power of an old RWS Model 26 - either through a heavier spring or a gas piston of some kind? I have had this rifle for about 30 years and it still is a tack driver, but it doesn't have the power of some new rifles. I can't find a new rifle in my price range that shoots as straight as this one or has the fit and finish of the RWS.
Thanks,
Craig

I wouldn't mess with it if it still drives tacks after thirty years
The only way I will ever modify my Diana model 35 is if it breaks and I have no other option.
Enjoy it for what it is. More power just may equal less accuracy.

I would agree. This is as much a collector's item as a shooter. You might be able to boost the velocity 50 or 100 fps but how would that help? Not gonna' punch holes in paper any better or kill birds any deader. I'd say enjoy it for what it is and for more power buy a Benjamin Discovery. Have fun...

You guys make great points. I think I'll leave well enough alone. I already have the Discovery in .22. . .Maybe a matched set in .22 AND .177? Sounds like a great plan!
Thanks for the replies,
Craig
