2240 HPA valve and TP combinations as first posted on the Crosman/PoormanPlinker Mods 2240/1377 facebook group. This study was about using 3 different .22 cal barrel lengths powered by 1.4Kpsi Non-reg HPA using factory (1.4cc) and boss (1.8cc) valves and restricted (.07”), factory (.14”) and boss (.16”) transfer ports.
• 10” barrel FPE with .07 tp/factory valve decreased by .3 fpe w/ boss valve. Factory tp and valve increased energy 2fpe; after that increase the factory tp/boss valve, then boss tp and valve and the greatest increase was a factory tp with boss valve. (see 1)
• 18” barrel FPE with .07 tp/factory valve decreased by .4 fpe w/ boss valve. The factory configuration increased energy by 5 fpe, then with boss valve and factory tp and then the boss valve and tp all clustered by .3 fpe. The greatest increase by 1 fpe was from a factory tp and boss valve. (see 1)
• 24” barrel with a .07 tp/factory valve decreased by .6 fpe w/ boss valve. Then the energy increased and clustered w/ factory tp and boss valve; boss tp/factory valve and factory tp/valve. The greatest increase in energy was boss tp/valve combination.
• Shot count increases were similar in all barrel lengths except the boss tp and valve in 24” was unusually high. Otherwise the energy increased in the order of: factory tp/boss valve; boss tp/factory valve; factory tp/valve; boss tp/boss valve; restricted tp/factory valve and then the highest was restricted tp/boss valve. (see 2)
• Velocity spread % of the first 10 shots and the Standard deviation of all shots were random and particular to individual configurations. In general you could say the flattest shot strings came from the restricted tp and the most divergent shot strings came from using the boss valve. (see 3 & 4)
• Except when using the 24” barrel there was only slight difference when using a boss tp or or boss valve. It seemed that using either one or the other created similar results and using both together did not make any significant difference. (see 1) Choosing to use factory tp/boss valve tended to increase shot count and standard deviation (not good to increase SD). Choosing to use the boss tp/factory valve tended to have less SD and less shot count. (see 2, 3 & 4) Both configurations had about the same FPE.

ha ha ha Art... those kind of pictures. No it is just me shooting and tearing down guns and shooting and tearing down and shooting.... I am actually shooting a very close range due the constraints of my range and the chronograph is 16" and gets moved regularly. Not much to show in that regard.
