Only ones I have use top screws. While I understand you'd like the newest version, can't see where side screws are going to help a great deal...once that barrel is off and back on, it's not likely to shoot dead-on zero. The advice few of us ever take is this: if you ain't happy with it out the box, send it back.
I just think that I know more about their stuff then they do..what they have sent to me is a Hammerli Pneuma barrel which I also have here to keep track on changes, I just measure the barrel OD which is .553 and the barrels when they changed over to LW designed barrels measures .595While it may not seem like a big deal to some, but I know what barrel gives me the accuracy, So its a big deal to me not to spend my funds for a older design.. The average person would not catch this
As you know I am a good supporter of Hatsan, They pay me nothing to do what I do.... with that said I will also talk about their short comings as well. I know that they are trying hard to, well I take that back, honestly I do not know how hard they are trying. Maybe not as hard as I am... They have to many variations of revisions to the point that mixing in old with new. I ordered a .22 barrel in which my rifle is the latest that set screws are on the side of the breech, which the older ones were attached to the top and you had to remove the scope to take the barrel off...thats the one that they sent me Come on...discontinued is discontinued and should not be sold as spare parts. The other thing that upset me was the barrel thread tolerance that has become all over the place. They have a good thing going and I hope that they do not not mess things up by lack of attention to detail...Does any one own one that you can only take off the barrel from the top and not the side of the breech? Gee wheeze!
