GAMO Hunter Extreme and GRT-III proble...
«

Hi,
I hope someone can help me on this one.
I installed a GRT-III trigger om my GAMO Hunter Extreme, but I found two problems:
- When I pull the trigger a little and then I release it because I'm not ready to fire, the trigger doesn't go to the initial posiion. I think this is a bit dangerous.
- Maybe because I just fired about 50 shots, I never know exactly when the trigger is going to fire. I think it should be some kind of "force", "stop" or something else that would tell us that this is the exact place the trigger is going to fire.
Did I made something wrong, or is this normal?
By the way, this is a five shot roud at 30yrds. The first shot was to zero the gun.

Good shooting with the extreme. As for the trigger, if you're having trouble with it you should shoot Bob a "pm", he'll be happy to help you out. I have the GRT III in almost every gun that will accept them, including my GAMO 1250 .22 (original version of the extreme) and it functions perfectly. Give Bob a yell, he'll answer.

That's not a problem that did not exist prior to the GRT-III installation.
Below is mentioned in the installation instructions for the GRT-III but some people do not read all the way through them.
Important Safety note regarding balked fires. (and not just with springers but also gas rams and many other airguns)
If you start to pull the trigger, but then release it without firing, the sear will not reset to its original (as-cocked) state automatically.
(it gives you the false impression that it has reset) This may leave your rifle on the verge of firing and therefore in an unsafe condition where the slightest jolt or vibration might cause a misfire. Therefore, if you begin to take a shot, but then change your mind after having already started to pull the trigger, it is important to always re-cock the gun to reset the sear.
The non-resetting sear is not a side effect of the GRT-III trigger blade modification
but you probably never noticed it before only because the blade return spring of the unmodified trigger creates the illusion of automatic reset when the trigger blade is released.
A partial pull-through has always had this potential for leaving the sear in a state of partial disengagement.
Always re-cock a gun whenever a trigger is even touched without actual firing on any gun.
Again gang... keep in mind that this exists in almost every spring and gas ram airgun (and many others) and not realized by very many owners.

That non-reset is a function of the 2-stage trigger and should have existed on the original trigger. My Benjamin Trail did the same thing before and after the GRT-III was installed.

Hi, eros,
With a lot of practice you'll start to get a feel for the moment when the sear is about to slip.
If you want to have a little more warning, you could set your 2nd stage pull a little stronger than it now is.

I would venture to say that you have an interference problem in the trigger and there would be no reason to take the trigger apart.
Go to my "Trouble Shooting guide on my website. Click the link below:
http://charliedatuna.com/airgun_docs/GRT_III%20Troubleshooting.doc
and go down to the section titled:
Problem: The trigger blade hangs up, hard trigger pull or does not want to return:
Find out where the interference is, eliminate it and your problem should be solved.

By the way...
Is there a way to install the GRTIII in a GAMO Whisper X.22 with a plastic trigger?
I ordered one and now I can't seem to be able to install it. I tought that it was easy because of this post:
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php/topic,2777.new/topicseen.html#new
I tried to contact Pete but he didn't answered my PM.. :-(

Not as of yet Bob is in the process of developing a trigger for the gamos with the plastic triggers. If you look at the top of the page where the stickies are you will see where he is in the process now. Thanks David
