The Hawke covers are of excellent quality. They come standard on the higher grade Hawke scopes (they were included with three of my scopes from the Airmax line). I like them enough that I wanted to purchase them for the two Hawke scopes I have that didn't come standard with them but the high cost discouraged me. Tight groups,Bob
Thanks Bob, that does sound good. But does the hinge protrude a lot and can you still turn/twist the covers when they are installed? I didn't realize this until after I started this thread but my scope is mounted really close to my riffle, there's barely enough space left for the bikini-cover, less then one millimeter I'd say. I fear this may become a problem when adjusting the AO which is at the front of the scope on my Hawke Vantage.
Marcel,If your scope is that close to the rifle, you might not be able to fit them. They attach via the threaded area INSIDE the bell of the scope and extend outside the scope at the top, where there's a very small hinge for the cover, and at the bottom, where there is an extended area for the cover to snap into when it closes. I just measured it. It projects 3mm from the bottom of the scope bell at approximately the 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock position.I'm thinking you could easily grind a small area off this piece to make it fit your rifle...Tight groups,Bob
I certainly wouldn't take a Dremel to these metal scope covers. No sense in buying an expensive pair of scope covers just to chop them up. IMO these are more fitting for a side focus scope. That way you don't have to worry about hinges/tabs making contact with the rifle or the cover opening at an odd angle due to the scope bell being twisted to a certain position.
when i called hawke about these, they told me they were NOT $50 a pair, they were $50 EACH. $100 for a pair.I'm really happy with my butler creek flip ups I got for less than $20.
