Pyramid air shipping charges - customers in Puerto Rico, USA beware

Well, customers of PA in Puerto Rico should take notice of them dropping UPS as their carrier to PR, this time it seems for good...
Had to order some stuff that I urgently needed for a friend airgun job this weekend. The fedex shipping charges was $58 with change for what ended being a 7.7 pound package (not overnight shipping, just 2nd day air being ground shipping charges were almost the same and not an option given the fact I needed the items before this weekend). I had to have the items in question so I bit the bullet and placed the order. Emailed pyramyd not looking to do anything with the order already placed; I choose to pay the charges so no contest there, but to inquire for future purchases if they indeed had removed UPS delivery to Puerto Rico USA. Their prompt response was "At this time we are only shipping with FedEx, worldwide. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let us know. (my customer company policy question case # is 2011-07-20-11:05:24-4)" so indeed looks like their customers in Puerto Rico don't mean much
. Pity, such an excelent ecommerce site but from now on my only use for it is to check around and order elsewhere, and btw I did order regularly so I have been a repeat customer for the past few years. I've spent quite a few bucks with them (much more than a few thousand $ I might add). No longer. My previous purchase was on may of this year and it had "reasonable shipping charges", but my order from yesterday was my last one.
So Puerto Rico customers, beware...

I always try to find a different vendor before I will buy from PA because of the shipping costs and delays. If I order something from them on say a Friday I will not see it until the second Monday after that if I place the order ground. Any vendor that uses USPS is getting my business first these days.

Have ou tried using Amazon.com? They have alot of Airgun stuff and do ship USPS. I live in a US "Territory" like Puerto Rico and I am having problems with Pyramid air shipping to me here. that same 7-8 lb package would prob cost me about $100.... so you are not alone with shipping cost dilemma my friend.,,

Any package that UPS or FedEx has to put on a plane will be very expensive. When you order, ask the company if they are willing to ship via USPS. It will take a little longer, but the shipping will be a lot less

If I buy something from PA I always use the cheapest shipping option and still get my stuff within 5 days.

I've been using the USPS for a while, they're 1/2 the cost with priority and I don't see any difference in the ship time.

Thats crazy guys. Don't hesitate to find a member(i'll be glad to do it) to whom you can have pyramid ship, then it can be sent by USPS priority flat rate. I tried to send a scope to Hawaii and it was going to be almost $35.00, sent it usps for $11.00. This wouldn't help with guns but it would with small stuff like ammo, scopes etc.. J

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I live in Wisconsin(not too far from Ohio where PA resides) and have purchased many items from PA. My only complaint is Fed Ex. I wish they offered other shipping options. Like "JonnyReb" stated, I (and other GTA members) are willing to help out a fellow Airgunner!

Here is one to add to the rant. I ordered pellets on Monday and chose 3day shipping so I could have them by Friday. Now 3 days from order would be Thursday if they shipped on Tuesday. But hey they shipped on Monday! So I check tracking and sure enough the pellets are at Ontario sort facility 4:35 PM Wednesday. Ontario is about an hour and a half away from me. So I check in the morning and it is moved to Rialto which is a shipping dock that they load the trucks up for outgoing final delivery. I think yes going to be here Thursday afternoon. I check an hour later and it is marked "Package not due for delivery" and they continue to mark it Package not due for delivery for thew next 2 hours. Meaning they scan it for loading and see it doesn't have to be delivered until Friday. So there is sits a little 7 pound box that they could have got off the dock and dropped off since they were coming here anyways. They pick up and deliver here every day, so it would not have been a wasted trip. UPS would have dropped it off early, just to get it done.
