AWESOME!!!
Many thanks for this, now I know where my baby came from!
This is truly one of my favorite rifles of all time (including my countless powder burners). This is my go-to rifle, it's the first one I grab every time for almost all types of shooting from pests, paper and to hunting feathers, fur and metallic silhouettes this gun is the real deal.
I've heard it called "MKIII" over the years but now I'll change the name in my signature to the actual name "Series 3". Funny how Beeman couldn't resist calling it "Bearcub".
Nonetheless, there's not too many of these remarkable rifles around. And when somebody gets a hold of one, they tend to hang onto them.
Now I really can't wait for my "Theobenized" Vulcan Series 3 to return from its tune up!

That must be an awesome book! What it is called? I bet it's only available in the UK, huh?

It's called "Webley Air Rifles 1925-2005" by Christopher Thrale, it's about $65 new. Very informative, its a UK hard covered book, almost 300 pages. I was so into getting a UK Webley that I purchased this book to familiarize myself with the various models. I really wanted a mint UK Webley Stingray or Xocet carbine in .22 or .25 or a Vulcan carbine in .22 I just couldn't find one in either configuration and in mint condition, I've very picky about buying used air guns, looked for a couple of months (even while on vacation in the UK). I been air gunning for a bit over 20 years and have no idea how these slipped past me over the years! I guess I was too caught up in with the German springers. I gave up finding a mint UK one and I won't touch the Turkish ones. I ended up finding the next best thing, a NIB UK BSA Supersport in .22 (export/full power) built in the early 90's. UK built BSA's are equal to the UK Webleys (IMHO) just wish I had the carbine version Supersport! I have a thing for carbines and kick my self for missing the Stingray, Xocet, Vulcan, Supersport, Theoben Fenman and Evolution carbines. I've sold off pretty much all my air guns (saving for a wedding) and for now the SS does everything I need it to do.

There certainly is something about these English guns. Funny how this thread is listed under the Turkish Gate when these Vulcans don't have a single part assembled in Turkey. I guess the original poster (Howie) didn't really know much about the Vulcan and what mesmerizing powers it has on certain people
My first airguns were British, a Tempest and then Hurricane then came the Theobens and then I started chasing the German ones.
That BSA sounds pretty sweet, being a sucker for English guns I'd love to see it. Did you post any pics of it on the AirGun Gate? You should so I can see that marvelous thing!

English air guns are great! Such a shame Webley went south.... I know Gamo has owned BSA since '85 or '86, but I don't know exactly how far back you have to go to get a what would be considered a "UK" BSA (probably before 2000). BSA and or Gamo decided to cut corners on the springers sometime after 2000. I want to say BSA was left alone up until that point and was able to put out a quality springer. I had a Spanish made "S" serial number BSA Tactical XL in .22, purchased new in 2011. It was very compact and light. It hit extremely hard and accurate, I never chronied it but it pretty much destroyed a green Gamo pellet trap that my HW 30 .177, HW 50 .22 and first CZ 634 .22 hardly dent, no joke. It took down some serious critters and I have no reason to think it couldn't take a raccoon down. It had great bluing and machining. With that being said it had a roughly finished stock, harsh recoil, was hard to cock, had the worse trigger ever and the stock screws and barrel screw plug would come loose every 20 or so times it was fired. They don't come with open sights either so a good scope and mounts is a must because of it's recoil and scope creep. The "maxi grip" scope rail was a gimmick, just a piece of rubber under the rail that is supposed to ease recoil (looks ugly too/took away from the clean look of the rifle). I remember it had a cheap feeling safety mechanism as well. I thought these issues were only unique to my Tactical XL but no according to the reviews, they are all like that. I ended up getting rid of the Tactical XL because I'm lucky enough to have purchased a new in box UK "DS" serial number BSA Supersport in .22. It has an excellent trigger and no harsh recoil, it's a full powered export model rated at about 13-14lbs, super accurate and hits hard. It has the same safety mechanism that the Tactical XL had but for some reason it operates perfectly and is of excellent quality. I learned that if you have the opportunity to purchase a English made gun now, do so before they go the route Webely and BSA went. I'm telling you I kick myself for letting the Stingray/Xocet/Supersport/Fenman/Evolution carbines sneak pass me! Below is the NIB Supersport (made in the mid 90's) I snatched, I wanted the carbine version but I couldn't find one new so I got this one. I was thinking of having the barrel chopped a few inches but don't think it's a good idea since it didn't come that way originally. I'm in the process of searching for a new thin recoil pad for it since I found the factory one too thick.

Wow, what a beauty! Really a gorgeous rifle you got there, thanks for sharing. Don't kick yourself for letting the Stingray/Xocet/Supersport/Fenman/Evolution carbines sneak pass you. You can still get that rare opportunity to pick up a used one. You seem like me, very VERY picky about condition. My Theoben is in absolute MINT condition as well, only a few of my guns make it out to the field and most of them are in great condition. I simply care for all my guns like they are my life.
I didn't know that my Vulcan carbine hit a sweet spot with you, those little powerhouse carbines do me in everytime too!
I wish we lived closer to each other, serdac. I'd definitely let you shoot my English gun collection knowing how well you take care of your stuff. I would love to try out your BSA, that looks like a sweet ride.

Thanks, and like wise it would be great to live close to you so I could try out your collection. Very picky yes! Seems that most people's idea or description of mint or LNIB is not the same as mine! I'll hold on the the BSA for now, I can only have one air gun so as long as something else doesn't come along I'll be holding on tho this one for a bit. I would describe it as somewhere between an R7 and R9.

Wow, must be a silky smooth, sweet shooter if it's between an R7 and R9. Those two are some real German workhorses. That BSA probably has the perfect amount of horsepower needed to do most things
I would definitely leave that barrel alone (seems like you've already decided that) and I would leave that rifle stock since it's in a minty fresh condition.
You're the type of person I would buy a "pre-owned" air rifle from. One simply cannot call such a rifle you posted pictures of "used", especially for connoisseurs like us.

Yep, it's very smooth and well made. Apparently there were some Supersports made for export (for us Americans who always crave for more, lol) and this one is rated closer to 14 ft/lbs instead of the usual UK 12 ft/lbs limit. I wonder if Webley made any "export" versions, going to have to look in the book.
Guys are getting away with murder using HW30s' rated at 7-8 ft/lbs in .177. For what I've used air guns for in the past, 10 -11 ft/lb springers in .20 or .22 caliber work fine for me. I took the old recoil pad off since it was too thick and now have two of which I need to choose one and then find away to fit it and put it on. I'm not good with tools and don't want to send it away for such a minor job.
I may have to get rid of this one (believe it or not) as I'm trying to sell another air rifle with no luck. I think this one will go faster. I promised her that I will keep only one air rifle and sell all the other air guns I had to off set the cost of our wedding. It's only fair to her since she's done her part. We'll see, but if kept I won't tamper with the internals or barrel.

My little Webley made it back home safe and sound yesterday.
Here's a pic to prove it.
More to follow soon on the other thread I started.
