I'm not so sure. I have a Benjamin 397 with a Stoeger scope. I use Gamo Red Fire, 7.8 grain pellets, and if I do my part, it will hold better than 1/2 in groups at 25 yards.

Box stock 880 with the exception of the "tape mod" (not needed on a 901) with Crosman boxed domes 10.5's. 35 yards, rested, 5 shots. That is what an out of box 901 is capable of, with the right pellet and if you do your part. That is before trigger mods. That is a pellet next to the hole andd of course a dime

The big question, though.. Is that a typical group for an out of the box Daisy, or is that the rare exception?
Well this should be an education. Didn't get a chance to shoot it, but my brother in law said his gun doesn't shoot straight. Of course, he's only shot BB's. I kindly offered to bring it home and see if I could get it zeroed in. First off, the cute little scope was way out of focus and the cross hairs were rotated. I focused the scope and rotated it in it's mounts so at least the cross hairs are where they should be. I knew these guns had a lot of plastic, but I had no idea they were THAT much plastic! It really does feel like a toy. In the morning I'll clean the barrel, lube it up, and try some pellets. I really want to see what it'll do compared to my Benji's. No idea what the "tape mod" is. Guess I should find out.
Poor guy, shooting BB's and thinking he got a bad rifle. 1" at 5 yards is in my experience good accuracy with bb's from an 880. Stretch it to ten yards and groups usually more than double in size- more like triple or quadruple. Pellets make a single hole. They ought to make a pellet only version with a magazine like the 760 has...
Well that wasn't terribly productive. That scope really is useless. I had focused the cross hairs sharp last night, but when I looked through the scope in the daylight, everything except the cross hairs was completely blurry. I could either have the image sharp, and not see the cross hairs at all, or have the cross hairs sharp, and not be able to see the target. I cleaned the barrel and gave it a couple drops of Secret Sauce. I then fiddled with the scope so I could kinda see the cross hairs and the target at 10 yards. At that range, with the Crosman premier domes, it shot a three shot group that was around 1/4" center to center. Pretty good. Unfortunately, when I moved back to 25 yards, I couldn't get any joy at all out of that scope. Blurry cross hairs and blurry target. Shot a 5 shot group that was around 1.5". Took the scope off and tried the irons, but they're so fat I couldn't do any better with them. I'll tell brother in law he's gonna need a better scope. If he wants to pay for it, I'll find one and set it up. I had other issues though. First, it took me an average of three tries to load a pellet. Either dropped into the loading port facing the wrong way, or fell back into a depression in front of the cocked bolt. I'm guessing that's where the BB's would come in? Also, I've got some nice scrapes on my knuckles and pinches on my hands from pumping that wacky pump arm. I guess these are things that can be overcome with practice though. Part of my problem too, is that I'm used to .22 cal pellets. For the most part I've been shooting my .22 Disco and .22 392 with peep sights. Loading .177 pellets into this type of gun, especially with a scope, is indeed more challenging. It'd be interesting to see how this little gun shoots with a decent scope though...
Ditto on the CPUM 10.5 gr. My 880s love em. One ragged hole out to 18 yards.
