"Back in the day" RWS did produce a one piece droop mount that would fit your gun. How do I know? I have one on my 1969 Diana 35 which was the forerunner to the 34.
Hi all, I have an old RWS model 34. It was made in 1985. I believe the first year of manufacture for this model may have been 1984, so its a very early one. This gun has much sentimental value for me. A year or so ago John in PA refurbished it and got it shooting great. However, I am having trouble scoping it because of the following two factors: 1. The barrel has a visible downward bend to it 2. This gun does not have a typical scope rail. Instead it has grooves cut into it. Also the length of the cut grooves is very short, just over 3" or almost 80mm. Because of the short length of the grooves, 1 piece scope mounts do not fit on it. you can only use regular scope rings and they have to be mounted as close together as possible to fit within the grooves. I bought a Hammers scope that was supposed to be specifically designed for much heavier recoiling guns than this, however, the vertical POI would constantly change every 10 shots or so I think because I had to adjust the cross-hairs down so low to get on target because of the bent barrel. (I've subsequently put this scope on a 1322 and it works perfectly now) So, I'm kind of stuck, because it seems that droop compensating mounts are all 1 piece, which won't fit because of the short grooves. And scopes apparently don't do well holding POI when adjusted way away from center position. I have a red dot sight on it right now, which seems to not mind at all being adjusted down and holds POI fine, however, the dot is kind of a misshapen blob so it is way to imprecise for accurate shooting. I'd like to put a scope back on it if possible. Does anyone have any ideas? I'll attach a picture
