22xx mods... some old school and new stuff

This gun was built a year or so ago but was hardly even shot. Got busy... then winter came, excuses etc.
Here’s the ensemble of the new and old parts:
The main feature is the Biovalve. Invented nearly 15 years ago but, as is often the case, no longer being made. It has a huge plenum and uses a fixed (static) piercing pin - the exhaust valve doesn’t use the fire-to-pierce pin.
I started with the .22 cal barrel - an 11” section cut from a LW blank. The (choked) muzzle didn’t do well with the Q-tip test. Even LW has their bad days:
No real problem - muzzle turned, faced and chamfered:
Breech turned and checking the fit... ready to cut the leade and port:
Finished barrel prep - the port is .172", and the countersink is .250”
The transfer port - using Delrin .250” tube stock reamed to .172” i.d. with 1mm x 4.5mm o-rings on the ends for a gasket seal:
Fits the barrel port well (this is important) - take your time here and don’t take shortcuts. Rigid tube stock works very well with o-ring (gasket) seals:
RVA with a slingshot (short stiff spring) and modified challenger hammer. The flange was removed and the striker recessed for more slingshot travel:
The trigger upgrades:
Took the gun out of the case and took a picture... now off to the range...
Thanks - Wyo

nice work as always wyo . fe wquestions. did that trigger take fitting to work properly inside the frame
? i have several replacement triggers from a different manufacturer that all needed alittle tweeking to work properly , well to even fit. another question on the barrel, it appears you did the q-tip test prior to crowning it , is there a reason, just to check it out ? all my lw blanks have needed crowning and such and wouldn't expect an un crowned and finished barrel to pass the qtip test.
thanks
peace

Thanks, guys.
kj, the trigger is a perfect drop-in fit to the 1701 frame. I have ten of them and they all fit without need for alteration.
I do the Q-tip test out of habit... it's just more information that may or may not help. But I knew by looking it would fail.
Most of the LW blanks (15 or so) I've got have had a decent recessed crown... here's a pic (I just snapped) of an unmolested one:
The recess looks aggressive but it's not after you face the mess they make with their "parting tool". All of mine have been 12mm and were the special, wait 8 weeks, from Germany - thanks

I loaded a cart and weighed the gun... just wanted to know, I guess...
Then shot a couple strings for some tuning work (I call it work because it isn't real fun):
The top string averaged 12.7 fpe for 22 shots. The bottom string averaged 11.8 fpe for 30 shots. I really like the bottom (RVA out 1 turn) setting. It has less recoil with much less noise. Accuracy tests are next...
Thanks again -
Wyo

When you said..

Breech turned and checking the fit... ready to cut the leade and port
What did you mean "turned"... As in lathe work?
What was entailed with that?

Hi Scott – yes barrel o.d. is turned down. The 12mm blanks are about .475” and need to be turned to about .438” (for the first 3-1/4” that fits inside the breech).
The breech tolerances can vary so I turn only as much as needed. I want a smooth, tight fit... have to sneak-up on it and keep checking (trial and error).
Also, the end needs chamfered so the barrel will find the bottom of the breech:
Next, I cut the leade-in to fit the bolt:
When the barrel fits the breech and bolt, I feel safe enough to drill the port... thanks-

I tried some serious shooting after about a tin thru the pipe. I think it takes a few hundred (if you don't bore lap) to polish off the bore...
The ten shot groups from 10m were ok... but just ok. I wasn't thinking much about it until the muzzle brake fell off... onto the concrete floor... hmmm
Fixed the loose muzzle brake problem (except for the ding on the end) and shot another group..
Seven shots in the same hole... stopped at seven. More shooting, much more to really wring it out. thanks-
