So now it is my open site close range hammer Ed,Sorry to hear that. If you don't mind, which mounts were you using on the 48 when the scopes failed?ThanksI was thinking about getting a model 54 myself. However, I'd like to remove the rear sight and mount a Williams peep sight on it.I like my FWB 300 and the fact that recoil isn't a factor. I also shoot the FWB 300 with the OEM peep sight. That's the reason that I'm thinking about the 54 with a Williams peep sight. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for a peep sight on the 54.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for a peep sight on the 54.i have the Williams FP-AG-TK on my 54 and i have no problems with it.i did, however, modify the front sight by milling off the standard blade and installed a vertical fiber optic rod...works OK for me...i am able to, normally, hit what i'm aiming at within the 50 yard mark with it. if i shoot from a 'supported' position, it can be very, very accurate.the 54 is heavy to begin with and i don't really care to add the additional weight of scope and mounts to it.
Diana seems to be going thru some kind of transformation? Old website has been taken down. I got a bad feeling they are not doing well. I hope that I am wrong.
OK, so I located the Williams/Beeman rear sight upstairs, so one option is in hand. I see different aperatures are available online too so that's good. But will my old eyes let me down in the end? At least it won't cost me to try.I also have a one piece Dynamit Nobel adjustable scope mount which at one time was on a D48 clone. If I recall that mount may have been problematic and probably would be more frustration than solution. As far as the weapon's weight, I have no intentions of lugging it around, bench or sticks only.

Using the Google Translator; it says that they are renovating the site. https://www.diana-airguns.de/index.php?id=613Here's their 2017 catalog: https://www.diana-airguns.de/fileadmin/user_upload/DIANA-Katalog-2017.pdfI am aware of that:http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=124728.msg1217983#msg1217983[/qoute]There website has been under construction for over a month now, if you look at there catalog they now have what appears to be rebranded Colt BB Pistols? I doubt they are made in Germany? Diana has never done this that I am aware of? Diana parts and Rifles seem to be in short supply? I hope they are doing well?
Judging by their new line up; Diana is doing just fine.

IMO instead of coming out with more cheap entry level Rifles the Market is already flooded with, they should concentrate on quality high end accurate Rifles and not cheapen there brand.

And I notice a much larger range of youth oriented models as well. Which explains the multiple plastic stocked versions, and the addition of carbon fiber stocks. These seem to be the styles that kids gravitate towards. And that's a good thing. The earlier you get them hooked, the more of us there will be in the future. Which in turn will mean more choices. As far as the line up in general; it seems to have expanded, so I'm not too sure what down side you're seeing, that I'm not. And if those revolvers are made in house, with Diana quality, I'm certain one will be coming to my house!
Nothing wrong with that. I'm just saying, that the younger crowd tend to gravitate toward "new", and "high tech".
