Storing SCUBA tanks

I'm pretty sure I can fully appreciate the "Darkside" label now. I did the fuzzy math and have discovered I have over $1,200 invested in my $200 entry-level Maximus:
Gun: $200
Trigger: $25
LDC: $50
Pump: $150
Pump Filter: $30
SCUBA tank and fittings: $160
New kitchen table and chairs to keep the wife happy: $600
By the way, I'd be the first in line once someone comes up with a rewards program for this hobby. Something like, spend x amount and the spouse can choose between the gifts on pages 1-5, spend y amount and spouse can choose between pages 1-10 kind of thing.
Now that that is out of the way, where do you guys keep your tanks? I typically shoot in the backyard and really don't have a good place to store my tank other than the garage, which can get pretty hot, or the basement. I'd rather not lug it up and down the steps every time I want to shoot, not sure if the garage would be too hot for the orings. I have a deck box out back, but it gets all of the afternoon sun, I though of leaving it in there, but I'm worried it would be too hot. I'm not sure of the tolerances on these. Thoughts?

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up to much space.

I store mine in the house or in my air conditioned shop. If you have a closet that doesn't get used much store them there. Also stand them up, if there is any moisture(which is rare but does happen on occasion) it will settle in the bottom which will be the strongest part of the tank if corrosion occurs. They take up less space as well when standing up. I have 5 scuba tanks that are over 25 years old and never had a problem with them with this method. Good luck.

I store mine in the shed, that way it can cool and warm with the outside temps and I can get a more accurate fill, which gives me a consistent shot count. I'm sure you've noticed maraudinglizard that on hot days, say 80 outside and 65 in the house that your fill is extended a bit do to expansion of the air in your guns tank/tube when brought outside.
For example I filled my tank in febuary to 3200psi(scuba shop) and am just now down to 2500. It was below freezing in feb, and now in the 70's. As the northeast warmed up the pressure in my tank stayed pretty stable for those months as things warmed up. Now that summer is close by I will have to get it refilled again. The opposite happen in the fall. And so you are aware, I've shot in five FT matches since feb with lots of practice in between.

Just had my steel tank filled today and it was darn warm from the fill. Much warmer than what it gets in the garage so I don't worry about it. It's only going to go up/down a couple hundred psi max between warm and cold days.

Tanks are designed with temperature fluctuations in mind, a 4- 500 psi increase is with in its range.
I keep my large tank in the basement , and use my ninja tank for portability.

Thanks guys. My garage gets pretty hot, but probably not much more than what I would expect to happen if on a boat with the tanks in a locker for an extended trip. But, I did talk the wife into letting me have a bit of closet space in the kitchen, since that's where the door is leading to the deck it works out great and won't have to worry about hot/cold issues in the summer and winter.

I'm pretty sure there is enough of a safety margin as far as pressure goes to handle normal ambient air temps. As far as storage I would be more concerned with other accidents like falling or knocking over.
