Just to be clear, you don't use any of the blue locktite?Do you resnug the screws fairly often? Whats your process? Id read somewhere that the hw77 was heavy enough relative to its recoil that it wouldnt shake stock screws loose. So, I tried it without any locktite for about 100 shots when I first got it and it was needing retightened every 10 or so shots. I feel like I'll be retightening stock screws more than shooting.Id love to know more about how you deal with this. Especially if this is the cause of my troubles. If I understand right youre saying the locktite can make the screws feel snug but theyre really not. Correct?I forgot to mention the crosman premier lights from the box were the first pellet I tried. It did ok with them but doesnt love them like my hw50s seems to.
I think the ES should be a lot smaller. Right? Is that large ES the cause of all my trouble? Where do I go from here? Am I at the point that I need to open it up and replace piston and breech seal as well as a spring? Might as well button the piston while I'm in there I suppose? What are the chances I still have the inaccuracy problem if I try to tune the gun?
I think one of the most important things to do when shooting, is to be very relaxed.Mind and body.Tension in the body or mind will give you bad accuracy.Almost every time I go out to pop a rat or two, I sit still with my eyes closed for 10 minutes. It's like meditation.
One of the guys that shot it (he's one of the few that shows up with springers to the FT matches) said it felt like around 15 or 16 fpe to him. It does not buzz or vibrate, just a solid thunk but it is a pretty solid thunk. Could a cut piston seal be allowing the piston to slam into the end of the compression chamber to cause the effect of feeling like more than 9 fpe? I'm guessing if there is a damaged seal it could also be the cause of the erratic FPS?Just to rule out something with my Chrony setup I shot the HW50s through it for a couple strings. They all came back with an average fpe of 7.5 and extreme spread of 9.57, 12.51, and 18.46. The spring in the HW50s is the original OEM spring and has about 7000 shots through it so I suspect it might be getting tired. The ES and average velocity with the HW50s were much more consistent and the groups with that gun suggest the same. I've suspected it was low on power for a little while.Could 5600 feet of elevation make a supposed 14-15fpe springer (purchased from Krale and assured by them that it was fac level) drop all the way to 9fpe?I'm on the fence between selling it at a discount to somebody and telling them the trouble I've had or opening it up to see what's going on.
