Cutting a crown on a choked barrel

I'm new to the forum and have been impressed with the information available here. I have a question on cutting a barrel crown with a lathe on a choked barrel. I have cut crowns on firearm barrels on my lathes but I always use a precision rod fitted to the bore to adjust the runout on the barrel when chucking it in the lathe. I have a choked airgun barrel that I would like to put a new crown on but with the taper of the choke it seems impossible to find the center of the bore, as a rod that will fit in the muzzle will wobble around when trying to indicate the barrel centerline. If any of you have come up with a solution to this problem I would like to hear it. Could I make a rod to fit the bore with a reduced diameter at the end to stick out through the choked section? This doesn't seem like it would guaranty that the center of the bore at the end of the barrel would be the same as the center of the bore prior to the choke.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Could you make a longer custom pin that enters from the breach end and then machine down on the muzzle end to fit through the choke and indicate off of that?

That's about the only idea I can come up with but it might not be as easy as it seems. The entire barrel would have to be very consistent diameter to get it all the way to the muzzle. I worry about getting it stuck up inside the bore or damaging the rifling if there is a tight spot before the choke. I guess it will be worth a try if nothing else comes to light from this post. Thanks for the reply.

You could cut it flat and put something on the end to protect the crown...
... works for me

Wyo,
That does look nice. I hadn't thought about a straight cut, the muzzle already has quite a chamfer and I was just thinking about cleaning that up. It is threaded 1/2 UNC and will be covered anyway.
Thanks for the reply,
Dave
