Hey Bill, no other guns have been mentioned ( can't think of anything else ) an you who has enough guns to compare it to recommended the 2200 , I'd say that good enough to earn an entry. This would make 15 guns which sounds perfect to, start a poll with. I'm not envisioning any other guns coming up, especially not an even number so I may start the poll tomorrow and let it run for 2 week's.
Just a few comments. First, the Crosman 760 wasn't always a smoothbore. I'm pretty sure they were rifled until the early '80s or maybe even later.Second, the 13xx doesn't get modded so much because it's horrible and needs mods to make it acceptable. It gets modded because people love it and want to make it their own, and because it is so easily modifiable. I have a 1377 (in front of me right now in fact) that I haven't touched because I like it so much. It's one of those guns you almost feel compelled to mod, but once you do so you feel compelled to buy another just so you can have both a modded one and one that hasn't been touched except to shoot it.Caliber: sure some .20 caliber fans consider it the best pumper caliber. That's because they're fans. Having both, I consider .22 the clear winner. I like having both, but if forced to choose one I would choose .22, hands down. That's why I give the 392P an edge over the Sheridan C: it is basically the same gun, only in .22.Last thing: I agree with the comment about the cartridge valve. I like the soldered-valve guns, but in my opinion a cartridge valve that can be easily removed for service or even replacement is a pretty big advantage.
I would leave the 760 as a whole. Some people are only interested in certain versions and have their own criteria for which versions are best; others want one of each, etc. To 760 fanatics, it deserves its own dedicated list. To others, while it probably deserves a spot on the list, it doesn't deserve multiple spots for different versions.
Yep... if you lump the 760 all in one then you're talking about some competitive longevity. The top one below is a June of '66 and I'm not sure that's a 1st var. From even '66 to present is ... how many years?
As far as I'm concerned, you could count all the Streaks, 312, 342, and 392 together.
QuoteAs far as I'm concerned, you could count all the Streaks, 312, 342, and 392 together. I do not think this is fair to either gun listed.I have one of each and neither on is like the others...My 312 is not like the 342.The 342 is not like the 392PThe 392 P is not like my 392PA.... and the "Dan is different from any.
