Hill MK4 , is the dry-pack worth it ?

Hi all
In a couple of weeks I will be buying my first pcp-rifle ( A UK spec BSA ultra SE .177).
Since it has a small air reservoir I was thinking about using a pump as my primairy air source ( No trips to dive shops,...)
I had planned to have my uncle bring me a Hill MK 4 pump from England when he comes over (almost 120 usd price difference here in Europe).
Now I am in doubt if the dry-pack is worth the extra money ? It would be a 32 USD difference in price... That would already buy me decent scope mounts.
Any input is welcome !
Kind regards
Stijn

It's a one time investment to keep moisture out of your gun's reservoir. So IMO for a mere $32.00 US, yes it is a good idea for the health of your PCP & it is reusable.

Can someone help me with this whole PCP hand pump and moisture issue?
The pump I have is basically a G6 knock off from eBay. I'm ready to put a large (meaning long) desiccant filled air intake line on it to help avoid/reduce the condensation that will form when the air is compressed. (there will always be some)
Is all this really necessary? If so, what are you all doing - those of you who are using hand pumps?...and are you all taking your guns apart after each day of shooting to allow things to air out?
I have yet to fire a shot - I'm trying to learn everything I can before I go out and break something.
TIA!

I think it was Ribbonstone who did a test to see if the dry pac really works. By weighing the dry pack after sitting vs. after pumping I'm pretty sure he found that they do in fact remove moisture. To me it is worth it but then again I got by just fine with my other pump with no filter.

Drew, I'm not sure you need an elaborate desiccant system for a hand pump. But one of the small ones made for a hand pump seem to work fine unless you're using it over & over in the jungle with 90% humidity.
One thing you should do, is about half way through pumping up your gun, open the release valve to vent off an moisture that might have collected in the pump. Then obviously, again when you're done pumping at the end of the fill.
The desiccant can be removed from the filter, put in an oven & baked dry when it becomes saturated from humidity.

Ok - thanks guys!
Hope to get out this weekend and start running some lead through the barrel of that thing. ($269- M10, Mrod-Air deal) I've taken it apart and cleaned the barrel, installed the reduced transfer port and the improved - adjustable trigger sear bracket, put a bottle brush de-pinger in it, polished the bolt, siliconed the o-rings, and lubed the rest.
I guess I'll find out if I forgot anything tomorrow.
I'll let you know how it goes.
