You will not be unhappy with a Weihrauch. This one as oppose to the Beeman GS950 is made in Germany.
What do you guys think of this gun? Is it the same as a Beeman R1? In .22 caliber. Is it a scope breaker? I have a Beeman GS950 that shoots all over the place. I might give a break barrel another chance but it better be accurate. Is this a winner or do you have any suggestions on a great break barrel.
The only gun I have is a HW80 in .22 with a Vortex Diamonadback 4-12x40AO scope and have had no issues other than the trigger guard coming lose with use. It is accurate, and hard-hitting with H&N Baracuda Green (I prefer non-lead pellets). The HW80, unlike the R1, comes with quality iron sights.

Opinions vary, but IMHO the large 30mm compression chamber on the R1/hw80 causes more recoil by design. These guns definately require a springer rates scope. A had a Vortex Diamondback and a Hawke Airmax on mine with no problems. For a quality break barrel, I'd go with an hw95. I'm partial to under lever springers and have been very pleased with my hw97. Very similar powerplants, just a different cocking design. Good luck choosing.R

I have a 700.00 elite scope that in no way shape or form would I even put on a spring, just don't want to take a chance. So would get a semi cheap scope that I don't care if it shakes apart. So you like the HW 97 over the HW95? I do like that the barrel and scope rings don't move. Seems like it should be more accurate.I like springers because they seem to just work with little maintenance. I can leave the GS 950 in a closet for 3 years and it still shoots like it did when it was new (BAD )
I have a Hawke Sidewinder 30mm side wheel AO scope in Sportsmatch one piece base/rings on my HW80 .22. The scope has been perfect. The base was not mounted well by yours truly. I mis-read the recommended base screw torque and failed to bottom-out the stop pin. Yes, I have a scratch under the base. After some correspondence with Sportsmatch UK, I got it correct. I recommend a torque wrench for mounting your scope base and rings, as higher FPE rifles demand care in mounting equipment and technique. My rifle was recently tuned by John in Pa. I am very happy with the results. A tuned rifle needs to be treated like a new one. Pellet selection, hold, etc. may change. At 22 FPE, this rifle definitely hits harder than my HW50S. Of course, cocking is noticeably harder with the 80. I am still learning on the tuned rifle so groups are about 3/4" at 40 yards. I hope to get better, as I am confident the rifle will shoot better.
. I also used a Sun Optics recoil stop between those rings to help with recoil
HW95 .22...as long as I do my part, mine will shoot nickel and dime groups all day long at 25 yards bone stock and the only "mod" done to it was a set of Mac1 brass screw cups that although it didn't need them, I did anyway...even the trigger is exactly how it came out of the box.
