How to remove Daystate Reflex moderator?

I love my new to me Regal XL .25 but the stock moderator kinda flat out doesn't work that good. My 45fpe .22 M10 is quieter. Trying to remove it though can't get it to budge. Not even after hearing it up with a hair dryer to the point of burning my hand. Any other ideas?

Good luck Dillon, they are glued on tight! Here's the problem. There's an adapter that is threaded into the shroud and the airstream threads into that. No telling which one will break free first. If the adapter stays in the airstream you have nothing to thread a different LCD to. You would then have to surgicaly remove the adapter sacrificing the airstream to get it out. But hey! You have a 50/50 chance to get it right the first time! There are o-rings in there...but more heat and a few light taps may break it loose. Good luck with it.

RDB got it right. Luckily mine unscrewed correctly. If it does go south you might really clean the threads and use a semi-permanent thread locker to put it back together. Let it set up a couple of days and try it again. Who knows maybe it'll unscrew correctly the next time. Mine actually unscrewed pretty easily and no heat was needed.

Sometimes things are screwed on tight as well as being glued. I.e. You might have to apply more turning force once you have softened the glue all the way around.

Applied more heat with a heat gun and with welding gloves I still couldn't get the thing off. At this point I'm afraid I'm going to wreck the shroud trying to twist it off. Not sure if it's worth it at this point. Did happen to find a thread where a guy soaked it in boiling water to get it off...Might not be a bad idea

The boiling water might work. Dillon, mine came off by accident. As in son and German Shepherd spazing out where I had my rifle leaning in the corner. Needless to say, gun slid down the wall and hit the floor
my fault. Dog with a dumb look and son with a scared one.
Picked it up to give it the once over, first ding in the stock. Whoo hoo! Grabbed the airstream and unscrewed like it as never glued in the first place.
The airstream itself is a sturdy unit... threads are an inch and a half or so inside. If you ain't giving up yet....I wouldn't be afraid to lay it on a flat surface and rotate and rap it with a rubber mallet a couple times. The tumble mine took broke the glue loose like it was never there. Just a suggestion.... Attempt at your own risk.

Three Hunstmans and they all came off with just a little heat and some elbow grease... however, I now have a Brocock Bantam with the same style moderator that I cannot get off and I am in the same boat as you are in. Do I try to keep messing with it to get it off or do I treat it like a sore peter...and not screw with it... I'm not sure. I hadnt heard of the boiling water trick so that might be of some use. If it works, please post and if I venture that route before you, I'll post regarding.

So this seems to be a common occurrence...I don't want to give up on this as I really want to get larger LDC for it to make it sneaky silent.

just removed mine. heated to the extent i was afraid of ruining the "carbon fiber" wrap on the mod, then tapped it all around and at the muzzle with a rubber mallet. it came off with the thread adapter inside the mod, but when the time comes to order the DonnyFL, i can order a new one.

You might want to get one of those lid type strap wrenches, reinforced rubber strapping etc,
the extended handle might provide enough leverage and the rubber will grip the LCD metal ends better, etc.
Remove the bbl, use a couple of pcs of 2x4 lumber, clamp the bbl in a vice tight,
then heat and use the strap wrench, plus you can heat right down on the bbl next to the LCD threading........
.
If that don't work, You may be up that Famous creek..............
without a canoe or paddles........

I tried with a rubber strap wrench but the heat gun started to melt the rubber. The mod was too hot to handle nare handed, but the thick leather glove slipped. I gripped a frozen bag of peas until my hand was cold and then grabbed the mod and twisted.
Maybe heating and then a sudden cooling would work?
