Texan vs. jugs filled with water

Had my girlfriend save six one gallon milk jugs and one 2 liter clear plastic bottle in order to see if these water filled bottles would stop a 320 grain hollow point bullet. The objective here was to see if I could recover the bullet and see how well the hollow point expanded. I thought it would be enough stop the bullet. Think again. Took the shot @62 yards and the bullet went through all of the bottles bounced off a stone backstop landing about 6 feet away. Could not tell if the hollow point expanded because the bullet hit the rock side ways and kind of flattened out Oh well, time to save some more bottles and try again.

Went through 6 gallons? I tried 4 and it destroyed the second one and kept going. Think I have 8 saved for the same test lol.
Here's a 345gr HP that went through 18" mulch trap into a dirt backstop. At 520fpe

Most definitely not the pellet gun you had as a kid! Looks like some real damage there!

Shooting though all those water jugs would have made a great video.

Since Mythbusters went on air, I've always wanted to make some of this:
http: // www .wikihow.com/Make-Ballistics-Gel
There may be better commercial products, but seems cheap and easy.
for some reason, i can't paste external links. just remove spaces.

I use that ballistic jell that you are talking about and it works pretty good but for 45 it would take a lot of it my 30 cal. Rainstorm with a 44.75 JSB will penetrate about 22" of it.

I'm thinking 10-12 jugs for the next test, need a little more cushion to stop the pushin'. LOL
