Gray scotch Brite pad will not harm the barrel, wrap a little around a wooden dowel rod, secure it with fishing line criss crossed around the wrap, cement the ends with a little superglue...works great...Allen A.
Gray pad works great cleaning a bore...the finest artifical pad is white that one works well in non chrome moly boresI've cleaned bores with a snake and thought the bore was clean then clean with the pad and rolled the pad on a clean paper towel, flecks of lead were on the towel...cleaning never hurt accuracy...these are my findings...Allen

Personally I avoid using anything abrasive except when cleaning a new gun or barrel . New barrels tend to be filthy so I use a new nylon brush on them for the first cleaning or two .
