Oh yeah, I have messed up my cam couple of times with watermelons. It's all about finding the right slug and correct pressure, the perfect harmonics for your particular gun. Keep at it Gene, it has some potential for sure, ok twist and rigid barrel. Marko
My guess is the Verticle stringing is from the recoil. I shoot my .457 like I'm gripping a shotgun and it helps. When I just let the rifle fire off sticks it will hit high compared to gripin and rippin.
This is the second string starting at 3200psi. As you can see the string drops on every shot so there is a lot of room for tuning improvement. The rifle is LOUD! Needs a quiet device if you wanna shoot with your buddy and not lose your hearing. The oring under the tophat is a poor way to tune in my opinion, I use the Dyotat Delrin spacer method for my tuning. We shot some video and Roger is sorting through it and will post it when ready. I am going to do a tear down and do pics along the way. I am also going to slug the barrel and check the twist rate. The bullets do not seat that good, more than half the length hangs out in the trough and these are a short slug for .308. This rifle definitely has a different shot cycle compared to our .257 Dyotat powered Condor. There is noticeable recoil, girly men need not apply. The rifle jump from firing really does not allow you to see your bullet strike through the scope. We don't have a handle on the proper hold for this Texan yet, but time will tell.Stay tuned...more to come...Created: 03/11/17 01:05 PMDescription: .308 Texan 111gr Nielsen 3200psiNotes 1: Notes 2: Distance to Chrono(FT): 1.00Ballistic Coefficient: 1.000Bullet Weight(gr): 111.00Temp: N/A °FBP: N/A inHgAltitude: 100.00# FPS FT-LBS PF10 897 198.35 99.57 9 910 204.14 101.01 8 937 216.43 104.01 7 933 214.59 103.56 6 950 222.48 105.45 5 963 228.61 106.89 4 986 239.66 109.45 3 996 244.54 110.56 2 1014 253.46 112.55 1 1027 260.00 114.00 Average: 961.3 FPSSD: 43.7 FPSMin: 897 FPSMax: 1027 FPSSpread: 130 FPSShot/sec: 0.1True MV: 961 FPSGroup Size (in): 0.00
Nice pictures of the leede, quite stupid for af leaving it square like that, you should try the barrel after cutting the taper lead in before laping the bore, some of the roughness is no doubt from the bullet hitting the square rifling ends. Could you swap the caliper to metric also for us imperiali challenged when measuring the parts? Marko
