1. Groups
2. Consistency
3. Power?
Then some dimensions and tear down thank you
no seriously, what size is that valve, and the tophat gap is huge.

They said they would test yesterday. Must have had problems or it was disappointing. Curios though.

This is the second string starting at 3200psi. As you can see the string drops on every shot so there is a lot of room for tuning improvement. The rifle is LOUD! Needs a quiet device if you wanna shoot with your buddy and not lose your hearing.
The oring under the tophat is a poor way to tune in my opinion, I use the Dyotat Delrin spacer method for my tuning.
We shot some video and Roger is sorting through it and will post it when ready. I am going to do a tear down and do pics along the way. I am also going to slug the barrel and check the twist rate.
The bullets do not seat that good, more than half the length hangs out in the trough and these are a short slug for .308.
This rifle definitely has a different shot cycle compared to our .257 Dyotat powered Condor. There is noticeable recoil, girly men need not apply. The rifle jump from firing really does not allow you to see your bullet strike through the scope. We don't have a handle on the proper hold for this Texan yet, but time will tell.
Stay tuned...more to come...

Looking good on the power department, but way too much spring for any consistency or bell curve.
Any accuracy or is it a scattergun?

With that kind of shot string (a cliff), part of your recoil is extra air.... You might be pleasantly surprised how much that can reduce with tuning....

Very interested how this gun performs on accuracy. I have a 45 and 35 Texan and a Condor in 177, 22 and 25. This is my missing Air Force caliber...

I enjoy my .45 Texan but its just too darn long:/:/ Wish there was some drop in tj barrel liners available. A 24-28 inch barrel would be so much nicer to haul around orsit in a blind or tree stand with. I have the R&L moderator on my 45 and it really not worthy to hunt coyote with. Ive taken two fox with the setup with nsa ammo at 120+yds about a year ago but that was sitting prone. I know power would be decreased with a shorter Barrel but I sure would be a lot nicer in my opinion! I wonder if Doug has a valve that will work in this new Texan?? Looking forward to seeing a complete review!! Thank you stikman😎

The new SS model uses a shorter barrel, 24 inch I believe. Problem is they are still using a 1:20 twist in it so you are losing quite a bit of fps and same fast twist rate so the heavy bullets that are most accurate in that barrel are really slow. If you are shooting close range I guess not too bad. Sure like to see a 1:30 in the 45 and 1:26 in the 357. I have been working with AF with some testing to see if they might change and/or offer a different barrel twist option in those guns. I have provided some ammo to aid in the testing. Have not heard yet how it is going. I think the twist in this .308 should work fine.

"This rifle definitely has a different shot cycle compared to our .257 Dyotat powered Condor."
That's because it you has the small .257 valve. I had to detune my .308 because it was not fun to shoot.
My 338 is even worse.

Starting off pretty good this rifle.
Eric Henderson showed a group of us a video of a group he shot at 150 yards and it looks real good and promising.
Your power numbers shows the gun can MAKE power
And a guy on youtube shot a group with the Texan 308. He was using 135 gr spitzer from ole HUNTERS SUPPLY and the groups weren't impressive as a whole buuuuuut........

Hello Marko, we were shooting old cans of beer at 100yds for giggles, Roger also had a big can of soup which he shot with that .308 slug from Nick. The can blew up and splattered the camera lens with vegetable beef and rice soup. Lol, he didn't know about the spatter until after he shot the gun pics.
I think this is going to be a fun rifle, there's a boat load of .30 cal slugs out there, just have to find the right combination.
