Squib Shot After Resting

I pumped my 880 to 15 pumps and waited a few minutes before shooting. When I did, it was a low power shot. I cocked it and pulled the trigger and had retained air. I pumped to 15 and shot immediately and it shot normally. I pumped to 15 and let it set a few minutes and it did the squib shot again.
I pulled out the chrono, pumped 15 times, let it set a few minutes and got a first shot of 409 fps followed by a second shot of 678 fps. This is with 9.7 gr Win domes. Pumped 15 again and shot it immediately and got 739 fps.
I tested at 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 pumps and it shot normally when I let it rest a few minutes after pumping. It did lose about 10-15 fps however.
So why does it fire fine when shot immediately after 15 pumps, but not when I wait?

Valve sticking maybe? Old oil built up around it?

Valve sticking maybe? Old oil built up around it?
I'll check, but if that was the cause, wouldn't it do the same thing with a fewer number of pumps?
Maybe the higher pressure is causing the plastic valve to slightly extrude into the hole and stick until some pressure is bled off with that first shot?

It's a possibility. Or it could be a combination of the two. It might not stick as bad with fewer pumps due to less pressure holding the valve closed.
Another thing to check might be the hammer spring/hammer. Maybe a piece of grit floating around in there not allowing for enough of a hit to overcome the higher pressure the first time. When you let it sit, it falls back in place causing drag?
