Got a new Stoeger X20 in .177 last week . After setting over night it shoots the first pellet 3 to 4 inches high at 30 feet no mater what kind of pellet I use. I have six other air rifles . None of them ever acted this way. What's up ? Is this normal and have I just been lucky with the other rifles ? This has happened every day since I got it . I am rather new to air gunning and need lots of help .-------------------- John -- AKA -- Papa Smurf

How much have you shot it since you got it?
If you haven't put at least a tin through it I wouldn't expect it to have "settled down" yet. My X20S2 took around 650 before it dried out enough that I started getting the consistency I was hoping for. My ATAC was closer to 800.

If you haven't done so, clean the barrel.
Some springers can be off a bit on the first shot or two of a session before they settle down - or maybe it's the shooter settling down. I don't really know, though I see it far less now than when I first started shooting springers. Actually I can't say I see it at all anymore.
It may have to do with warming up the compression tube, too. I really don't know.

John: I think that Rick and Thomas have both got it right. Some of my springers seem dead on from the first shot, while others are off for at least the first few shots before settling back to zero. When I change to another gun during a session, the first shots are at spinners until I'm ready to punch paper.
Again,I have springers that seemed perfect out of the box and springers that ate a lot of pellets before "suddenly" performing up to my modest expectations. For the most part, the majority of my 30-odd springers needed a thorough break-in of
at least
a full tin...you gotta admit that even break-in time is fun.

I have two other Stoegers . The last one I got was a X10 that put the first seven pellets all touching at 10 meters . That's kinda why I got the X20 , and yes even the break in time is fun . -------------------------------------Good Shooting to All----------------John

The X20 I first posted about just plane quit and I sent it back to Pyramiyd Air . I had a new one in five days . The scope on that one was junk so it and the rifle went back to Pyramyd as well . This time I asked for a refund . I think I will stick with Crosman . I have four gas rams and three springers , none of them have given me any trouble I also have a Storger X5 and an X10 that also are trouble free and very accurate. They were the reason I changed to Stoeger. Its a shame good outfits like Pyramyd Air are stuck with junk .------------Good Shooting to All ----John --AKA --Papa Smurf

I always assumed it was me who had to settle down and not any of the springers i had(they all did it) but now , with the hw95 it doesnt seem to happen. still could be me though, maybe the 95 made me a better shooter.

Im a x10 fan,years ago i bought the x20s when it debuted.....i returned it.
It felt and looked cheap next to the x10.
It was stamped and serial numbered 22 caliber....but was a 177.
I returned her assp.
I notified the seller(cant remember which company....but its a well known one)
Seller suggested to shoot a few rounds to see if i like it,and recieve a partial refund.
X10 and x20 used to be the same gun, with wood for the 10 and composite for the 20.
Then the 2 seperated into 2 different models, both became available in wood or composite in either caliber or model.
I have the older 10 in both calibers....love em both.
My 177 got upgraded to nitro piston, and threw in a $9 crosman titan seal.
The x10 and 20 series are both china b19s.....just like 90% of crosmans break barrels.
