You made out great!! That silver is an oldie. We'll both are, but that Silver has the rear sight welded on like my 51 Silver. The straight bolt handle. Just says "Silver Streak" on the side. So there won't be a serial number. The super slender stock and forearm. The chunk cut of of your forearm I believe is intentional. I've seen this now on a lot of older rifles. Have had a few myself with this. It's always, always, sanded nice and have been refinish and very well done. Ive noticed my fingers or thumb depending on being righty or lefty fit right into the cut-out for easier removal of the forearm on higher pump counts. Like I said I never see it just jacked up or raw looking it's always been prepped and finished. Islam do see them cracked at this location. I believe this is just from pumping, maybe over pumping? The slapping may just be to much over 50+ years if done with no intention of slowing the smack.
Zack; that was the Grass Valley show wasn't it? I wanted to go,,,but wound up driving Mom to the Sac airport at 4:00AM. Find out what the guy has and let us all know.
The top rifle in the avatar pic is a 342 and the bottom is my 312. 342 wears a Williams and the 312 wears a 273 peep.Take the Cam plate off and insert into that grove. Than put Cam plate back on and you are ready to rock and roll!!Here's the 342 with the peep. This was tapped for the Williams
