All threaded barreled PCP rifles pulled?
« on: February 12, 2017, 06:37:26 PM »
I was browsing AGD, and I noticed that not only is the unsilenced Gamo Coyote gone off the site, but so are the non-QE versions of the Hatsan AT44 series, along with several other PCPs with threaded barrels.

Was this an intentional choice on the part of AGD? If so, I'm not in favor of it at all. Especially as I wanted to BUY a Coyote. If it's been pulled from the site over concerns about the barrel being able to accept a LDC, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

If it's a matter of the guns being discontinued, that not worthy, but is understandable, these things happen and it's beyond our control. In that case, I wish we had been informed of it. I sent AGD an email inquiring if the items had been discontinued, but got no response, and Gamo's american website does not sell the unsilenced coyote.

That's interesting especially since with trump in office there is talk of the ATF revising the laws to do with those devices making them unregulated for civilian use. It may take sometime for it all to be accomplished but if so then they are setting themselves up for a lot of lost sales. IMO

That's if the reason for pulling it is that. It could be something else, but I'm kind of twitchy about this sort of thing and have been for a while, because I always worried we might end up losing access to PCPs due to legal/political reasons.

So this happening kind of jerked my knee and made me ask questions, doubly so when they didn't respond to my Email

The Hearing Protection Act if passed would treat them like firearms (requiring a background check), not unregulated.

..and this is how rumors are started. Quite a leap of logic to jump to the conclusion that they're "pulling all threaded barrels"..

^ You have any decent explanation for the majority of them being pulled off the site?

I ASKED them about this, they would not answer me, I wouldn't have posted this if they had responded to me. I asked why the AT44 and Coyote were gone, if they had been discontinued, if they would be back in stock, they received my email, they never replied.

At this point, what would you have me think but that it was an intentional choice? Especially as they had been available and in stock in multiple calibers a few HOURS earlier?

By unregulated I meant no 200 dollar ATF application and 6 month plus wait. I do not consider the background check to be regulated as in red tape bureaucratic scrutiny.

I have the official line from AGD. They finally deigned to respond.

"This model is no longer going to be carried."

They did not give me a reason, I am pressing them for one presently.

With a moderated model available, I wonder what the sales numbers were for the non-moderated versions. Lack of sales may mean that they dropped them from inventory.

FWIW, I just checked the Crosman site. It lists the Euro Maximus version as in stock.

The person I talked to (I won't say his name, as he was very polite), has informed me that he was not privy to the reason why they were removed. Only that it was made by another department.

I think lack of sales. Midwayusa was clearincing out the non whisper guns a few months ago.  If you go to Gamo's website they show the non whisper rifles but only offer the "Whisper" models for sale.
