On a whim I picked up a HW97K in .20 last week. I haven't shot it much yet. I had some initial concerns about the lack of ammo options but then I realized the positive side is that the ammo currently available is high quality. Because there are only a handful of options available it will stop my obsessive urge to constantly be buying a different tin of pellets in my ridiculous quest for accuracy. The JSB's or HN's will either work or they wont... I like the novelty of owning something you don't see everyday... but that doesn't count for much. I got a chronograph for christmas and as I have time I will get some data together about each caliber I have now but I suspect that the .20 is going to be a nice compromise between ease of handling, velocity and accuracy for me.
My Blue Streak was the devil incarnate on pests when I was married to the first wife. I wouldn't be surprised if the various pest-species of birds made prayers and sacrifices to their deities to make the .20 "go away". I find it the ideal small-game pellet- easier to grab and hold with fingers and enough mass to git-r-done.When I was doing pest control, that Blue Streak could keep up with my boss' .177 R-7 bird-for bird, and was every bit as accurate for what we were doing. Sure, he could stack pellets in one hole all day, but when it came to HOSP and pigeon heads, we were even-steven.I don't have any .20 airguns now, but when I can afford to start spending a little money on gratuitous wants, a Blue Streak is right beside the Beeman C-1 on the list of Guns I Really Want.. Every time one comes up on the Classified I cry a little on the inside LOLI think we're lucky there's still a few real powerhouse rifles out there in .20, including the AirForce guns. Springers are Good Fun, but PCPs make the .20 perform like magic. I'd really like to see a modern pumper in .20, or at least one with barrels/probes that can be swapped from .177 to .20 and .22.Ya know, I wonder how hard it would be to do a .20 barrel on a 2100 or 880.
