I awoke this morning after dreams of hunts danced through my head. And then it hit me. The Crosman AIR17 I've shown around here I'd originally bought for my #2 son when he was 8 years old had been on my mind shortly after awakening. I'd dreamt of the times I taught him to shoot, then taking him squirrel & rabbit hunting to teach him to hunt. Having been cleaned up, oiled & tested, I decided to surprise him with it for Christmas! He's 37 now with a fiancé & a home of their own. A couple months ago, as I spoke to him about getting back into pellet guns, hunting & shooting in general, he mentioned that he'd really love to have his AIR17 back again. for plinking, maybe keeping pests outta his peppers? So, knowing many online stores are having Christmas sales already, I found this @ Walmart.com to put the rifle in; https://www.walmart.com/ip/20893853 Then of course, some proper lube for the rifle; https://www.walmart.com/ip/19866113 And I already have a tin of these I planned to use in it, since they're too light for the Winchester 1400cs; https://www.pyramydair.com/product/gamo-lethal-177-cal-5-56-grains-domed-lead-free-100ct?p=1100 His AIR17, as some of you have seen, is one of the most complete left in existence, having been built in January of 1987. Still having the original parts, including the clip, sling & two speed loaders. Being in vgc in general, I hope this will get him to wanna go hunting with me once more? My wife actually came up with that last one!
Well, Walmart had Plano gun cases on sale for $17.83. which we picked up for free at local store. Got some Pellgun oil & will give my #2 son for Christmas with the .177cal Gamo Lethal's to shoot in it. Should work well in the AIR17? Here's a shot of them all together before wrapping. I got another one for myself at that price to carry the gun I choose to hunt with on any particular hunt. Wanna get a better, two scoped gun case for range days.
The rifled barrel on the M4177 is a direct replacement on the AIR17. I'd like to get it for him to improve accuracy.
It is the same basic action, save for the fact it's reduced to one pump. Someone else said it was a direct swap, & made sense to me?
