Daisy 822 problems

I found my brothers old 822 the other day it wouldn't pump any air and so I disassembled it and re assembled with a daisy 880 piston and everything, no dice. So I take the seals off the 880 piston head and put on the original 822 parts still nothing so I'm sort of lost. It not worthy air in for the first 2 or 3 pumps then very little air comes in. If you don't cock it pre pumping the air comes out behind pellet slot it sounds like. When you pump it after the first one it feels like there is a sort of spring tension on the pump arm pushing it open. Any pointers would be much appreciated its pretty easy to tear down and everything so I'll try whatever.

Hi i have a power line 822 .22 US made.
dose it pump if you cock it. my 822 needs to cock it to pump it up the valve stay's open till you cock it.
i got mine at a yard sale for $20 because they did not know you need to cock it.
do a search for valve rebuild parts they are cheap

please shoot responsibly! don't shoot papaya fruit with a crosman 760 and pellets like i did when i was 11.. back in 1986
they get stuck inside and they don't make a good sound in blender according to grandma her cousin said the papaya had hard seeds and she never seen that but tasted great!
may they rest in peace!
