::) :P SWMBO found a one year old solid oak China cabinet on Craig's List new $1500.00 bargain girl got it for $100 + $75 to rent a van to bring it home. Then she decided we needed new carpet in the dinning room because the old carpet was ugly. She also decided that if we were going to get new carpet "WE" me should repaint the living room and dinning room before the carpet is installed on Wednesday ..I HATE PAINTING !!! >:( :-[ ::) :'( :'(

Ummm... I think you missed a step or two....
1. Drink 2 12 packs while listening to color choices.
2. Spend 3 trips and 14.7 hours at paint store while predetermined color choices are changed.
3. Return to paint store when discovered that "the samples didn't look like that".
4.Return to the paint store again for the painter's tape, drop cloth, brushes, rollers and stir sticks that were forgotten on the first 4 trips in haste to return to the 3rd 12 pack.
5.Move all furniture, pictures of family members that had prior engagements and could not help paint but will sure to be around when it's done to help finish remaining beer, outlet covers and curtains from the room.
6.Place drop cloth while trying to convince the dog that it's not a flippin game.
7. Spend 30 minutes looking for the end of the painter's tape only to have it rip off on a diagonal pattern that is never recovered from.
8. Endure 2 hours of lesson from SWMBO on how painter's tape should be applied.
9.Stir paint thoroughly.
10.Stir again at afore mention's request with a humble "Yes Dear"

Man, you guys are whiners.
Mitch and I are ex-Navy. Ain't nobody can paint like a sailor, cuz it is ALL WE DID when we weren't fixing, doing preventive maintenance work, or cleaning something.
My wife learned a log time ago if she wants something painted, we go the Big-Box store, she picks the colors while I look at grills, lumber, and tools, and then I get a text saying she's ready to check out. THEN and ONLY THEN... I go buy 2 rolls of tape, 3 extra brushes despite the fact we're using rollers, an extra painter's trim-knife, and at least one putty-knife/4-way painter's friend. Getting rollers is a given, and that's when I sneak in a couple impact-driver bits and some type of miscellaneous screws for the honey-do projects that ALWAYS follow the painting.
SWMBO always gets her way, but she learned the first time we painted together that I do the taping and prep, she runs the rollers, and I do ALL the trim. Otherwise she hears me do the "Back in the Navy we had to..." talk. Yessirree... I hate painting, but I hate painting the same thing twice even more. So I do prep and trim and when things are taking too long, I tell her to take a break and then I go full-steam ahead.
About prep and clean-up: More detail during prep, less work cleaning up. Those paper rolls for flooring and plastic rolls for carpet are worth every cent they cost. And I don't bother cleaning rollers. Single use- all part of the cost.
Disclaimer: when I was going through divorce number 2, one of the main things that kept chicken in the fridge and tequila in the pantry was side work doing painting. I may hate it, but I got pretty good on account of going hungry is a lot worse than painting.

My wife tried pulling that stunt with me. I used misdirection and got her one of those fancy Keurig coffee machines.

Gilmore AS-16 commissioned early WW II Liberty ship then repurposed as a sub tender the only thing holding her together was the paint gluing the rust together and I was an ET R/N but still plenty of chipping and painting to be done . I also did it for a couple years when I was between careers back in the late 80's ;D ;D

I forgot you were a Navy Vet. It explains why you hate painting but are good at it. It's in your blood!
And yeah, it didn't matter your rating. If you went haze-gray and underway, you held a brush when you got back in-port.

Don, we just moved into a new to us house. EVERY wall now has spackle where the previous owners hung all kinds of stuff. After you get done there come on down. Your one room will be a warm-up exercise.

DEz I have no desire to paint any more rooms but this is just the beginning for me also . This is just a clean and shine in preparation for selling this place we live in now . My wife has a bug up her butt to sell and move elsewhere. So once I am finished with the spruce up , then comes the massive twice a month yard sales to get rid of tons of "stuff" including most of my HVAC tools . I plan on keeping only a few of the essential tools like vacuum pump , gauges ,scale, torch and a few trade specific tools everything else including the snow blower will be disposed of . Plan is to move to milder place with minimal winter weather and as sure as God Made green apples the next place will need some TLC because SWMBO hates to spend more than is absolutely necessary so I figure more painting and at least a new kitchen and bath will be in my future. ::) ::) :P :P

We have downsized....sorta. We are losing about 600sq ft of living space so a bunch of good furniture is on the block for sale. As soon as the old house sells they can start construction of my new LARGER shop. LOL
That was the deal. Teresa gets the smaller house she wants and I get the larger shop I need.

I can't complain too loudly myself. Vicki loves home projects, though she likes demolition more than anything else. She's handy with her impact driver and drill (we have His and Hers). Her hammers are all puny things, but she can hit a nail square and she's good with a brush or roller unless we're not talking about trim. Luckily, she wants to downsize- either a container home or something under 1000 square feet, so next house won't be as much painting. 700 to 800 would be great, and we've joked about just living in a single-wide on some acreage. As long as it has rock-solid internet, 2 bathrooms, and a decent kitchen the rest is almost immaterial...
... Just as long as my shed/garage/workshop in the next place has 240v with minimum 75amp service, a concrete 24x16 slab, and running water. Mainly so I got a place to live when she gets in one of them moods.

Preach on, brother-man! Life with Vicki has taught me a keep a container of Fast-n-Final and some joint compound, tape, and some spare sheetrock handy. She LOVES moving pictures and wall decorations.

Actually Myth Busters painted a room with explosives to spray the paint and it did not work very well if I remember correctly

A Hatsan AT44s-10 Long QE is in my future. I'm retired,and drawing Unsociable Insecurity, but have a small business as a home handyman, doing all the things most contractors don't want to do...paint a minuscule size bathroom, change a kitchen faucet cartridge, patch a door knob hole in a wall, change one wall switch or outlet...you get the drift. I make enough money from that to pay all the household bills, and fund my hobbies of guns, air guns, fly fishing and bread baking for fund raisers. SWMBO still works, and gets to keep all the money she makes, but as all men know, "What's hers is hers, and what's his is OURS!" In that spirit, she sees when money goes out of the bank accounts to PyramydAir and the like, so I try to make sure she gets something when I get something, and it's always better if she gets hers before I get mine. Here's how my plan has evolved...
Last Thursday I mentioned that it's been six years since I remodeled the utility room and half bath, and the trim was looking a bit shabby. So I "volunteered" to "touchup" the trim since I had a lull in work. She then said she was thinking of changing the wall color to "freshen up the rooms," to which I said, "I think that's a great idea!" (Mama didn't raise no fool! 👍)
Over the next two days and sixteen man hours I painted the trim on two windows, three door jambs & casings, all the baseboard and both sides of three doors. I then painted the walls and inside the storage closet (two coats) and moved the washer & dryer, making sure to spotlessly clean both machines and floors underneath them. I, my friends, am very close to a god...in my eyes. 👀
As she frequently asks when I do a big job at home, she asked how much I would charge a customer to do the same work. I told her it would have been $850 with the materials, because it was a major PIA because there's no room to work in small rooms with lots of "stuff" in them. For the very first time, she them asked..."Just how much are you spending on this next toy for your basement?"

Joe that was a wise decision "discretion is the better part of valor" ;) ;D ;D We are planning on moving out of our present home just haven't decided where yet . My vote is someplace with very mild winters and easy access to places to play with my AG's getting older takes much of the fun out of winter sports .

I also hate painting.
Do it at work when needed. Zinc Chromate 4-1, MacroPoxy, poly top coat with correct pigment 3-1 paint and catalyst.
Come to think of it, I dislike paint abatement just as much.
Best just to push through so I can get to layout and fitting.

For whatever reason, I was reminded of the time we were in drydock and "touching up" with the lovely haze-gray poly-amide paint. We'd always make sure to leave a couple of the "dixie-cups" (actually a 12 ounce paper tumbler) half full is strategic locations and forget about them. Inevitably, they'd be found a month later, the poly-amide paint fully cured. Once you peeled off the paper, you had a heavy, hard, but somewhat resilient paper weight. We always had a hilarious time throwing them at the ground to see how high/far they would bounce. A couple times I used a knife to carve a crude ball out of the cured paint. We'd head to the 3rd hole at the Mare Island golf course and tee off aiming toward the Dev-Group warehouses with those "balls" of paint.

Mama is loving me big time after the utility room/half bath paint job, but I reinforced my "atta-boys" by painting the kitchen and eating area walls yesterday, and changing 25 devices (switches & plugs) from putty to white in the kitchen, eating area, family room and center hallway. Today I'll wrap up the painting with the family room, as the entire back of the house is one long room, 17' x 38'. I can't paint the walls or ceiling in one area without painting the whole thing. On the plus side, it's all one color. Ceilings are fine, as this is a non smoking house, so I didn't need to paint them.
Getting closer to pulling the trigger on the AT44S-10 Long QE! 👍👍👍

Don, I still haven't figured out the proper ratio of "my bustin' arse" for "buying a new airgun". My 95QE and the PP700 were both ordered with zero dissension in the ranks. But when I ordered 2 new barrels from Crosman for my 760, you'd have thought I was trying to justify a new pick-up.
I look for those little jobs around the house and try to head things off before SWMBO can nit-pick The List. I have a dozen outlets to switch out this weekend myself, so thank you to Joe for the reminder. Latest project is moving from small tables and such for the TV and fishtanks to wall-mounted shelving. I can tell you the working load of just about every dry-wall fastener on the market thanks to the idiot that built this Cape Cod. Clearly they just eyeballed 16 inches rather than measure it. Found several sections of drywall where every single nail missed the studs completely from footer to header. ::) ??? >:( :o

Was painting today. Now I have spots of 2 shades of gray on my hands and arms, btw, these spots do not come off with Brakleen or Acetone. Wire wheeled to clean and prep steel. Wife says I have extra freckles now.

We never grow up. This reminds me of all the times that I skipped out of my chores and sneaked off to the lake to go fishing.
My rationale was that it was a perfectly nice day to go fishing. So why waste it doing chores?
That usually didn't go over with the parents. In the end, I found it easier to do the chores first then go fishing. Oh, and I couldn't do a half-baked job of it either.
In the long run; I got more rewards for doing a good job and still had plenty of time to go fishing.

SWMBO is thrilled now that the painting is completed. Today i had to do a PAINTING JOB for a friend who leased two office spaces on Thursday, and the tenant has to move in on Sunday because their existing lease expired. I wrapped it up in 9 hours today (empty space is easy to work with), and when I got home, SWMBO had received the custom made initials (JVL) she ordered three weeks ago. She's been wanting something for that wall space for a couple of years, and now she has it, and loves it. After dinner I mounted them and her comment was...."Good boy, good boy!" 😇😍 Why do I feel like a puppy? 😏 At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that I'm getting my Hatsan AT44S-10 Long QE!

I spent time on some short stories I was writing, shot my QB at 30 yards (with abysmal results :( ), finished the little shevles, and policed the yard for dog-paste, so tomorrow I get to do the outlets. I'm so undecided about my next PCP airgun I'm thinking about buying a springer to keep my sane.

Look at the Gamo Swarm Maxxim .22 fun to shoot and I am getting 10 shot dime size groups at 10 yards and expect to do pretty well at 25 yards tomorrow if the rain holds off

All of these are "a ton of fun and more accurate than me!" Sorry, but not a fan of Gamo. Nothing against them, just not a fan. The $200 could go towards the AT44.

And that's not even all,of them. I ran out of rack storage, so a few are on the bench.

It is at least as accurate as the Benji 392 and no pumping required I bought my Gamo Whisper because I didn't know any better ( Newbie )since then I have bought and sold others but for just mindless plinking this is a keeper in my book.

Good to hear you like the gun. Interesting concept. I also think their slide action CO2 was a neat idea, but no longer made. Hopefully they make this one a while, so people who are hardly ever early adopters can check it out later.
