NP 2 .177 is a beast!

Guys I'm still breaking in my Benjamin Summit .177 This gun is a beast! I shoot regular Crosman 7.9 hollow points and it flattens them out paper thin in duct seal, but very inaccurate. So far it shoots CPUM pretty good. What is the heaviest pellet you guys shoot through yours? I am thinking about calling Crosman and buying a .22 barrel as maybe that is a better caliber for this power plant. Has anyone converted their NP2 and how much is a replacement barrel? I am getting a Mike tuned .177 B 26 so that might be the go to springer in .177. Thoughts and input? Just wish the trigger was lighter with less length of pull and it would be the go to hunter. Thanks. T

I believe replacement Crosman barrels are in the neighborhood of $20. They use the same power plant for all calibers and only change the barrel.
You can lighten the spring in your trigger pretty easily. Mine is currently at twelve ounces but I think I'll increase it a bit. Mobilehomer had some great info on tuning the trigger. A lighter spring makes it easier to find the second stage. If the spring is too light it won't cock reliably.
If you don't want to play with the trigger you can get the CBR from charliedatuna.com.

I would certainly look into a CBR trigger. I have messed with my trigger for 1,000 pellets and just can't find a sweet spot. I have shot some good groups but for the most part it's been pretty bad as far as accuracy. I just can't figure out why they put such horrendous triggers on these air rifles. I plan on a getting a CBR, until then I pretty much just shoot my Umarex fusion and Sheridan 2260MB as they both drive nails inside 20 yards.

If I had the np2 in .177 I'd be shooting something 10 grains or heavier that thing is way to powerful

The NP 2 was slinging 7.9 CPHP around or close to 1050 fps. The only thing I don't like is that the Crosman Magnums are hard to find in store now. I'll have to just a) order online a few different heavy pellets or b) turn her into a .22 Summit. Eventually a new trigger but I was hoping that it would still maybe smooth out or get better. Feel like this gun is the Corvette of American break barrels. Ha

I would shoot the heaviest pellet you can find. Mine in .22 loves the 18 grain JSB over the 14 grain CPHP or JSB.
A barrel is about $30, but comes complete except for the cocking lever. The pin that holds it in place is easily removable, it is knurled on one end and pushes out from the other end pretty easily.
Here is some info on the trigger.
