question for the pros.on the performance of my rws 34

i am the proud owner of a new rws 34 t-05. it shoots way better than i do. i got my hands on a chronograph and did some testing. i have been debating on buying the vortex kit for it but don't know if it needs it. it has almost 150 pellets through it and seems to like cphp and rws superdomes. here is the chrono print outs. do these numbers seem on par for this rifle? would you tune it if it were yours and why? thanks for taking the time to read this. have a great day

I would not tune it if your ES and SD are that good. I would say that velocity figure is ok too. I would simply find the most accurate pellet and enjoy it. JMO

I would leave it alone. I am not a pro, but I put a Vortek kit on mine and lost velocity. It shoots a bit smoother, but not anything too drastic.

Thanks for all the responses. It has lost the real bad buzz it had when it was new. It does however feal realy gritty when it is cocked. Popular opnion seems to be that she is doing fine. I would like to take it apart just for the knowledge of how to do it if I ever need too. I will need to build a spring compresser before I can do it. Would be nice to have a few spare parts laying arround just incase I ever need them. Any suguestions on what to to keep on hand?

The gritty is the cocking slot needing a debur and clean up, along with the cocking shoe on the cocking arm.
Some moly paste from air rifle headquarters on the cocking slot and shoe, after the clean up with a file and 240 grit sand paper will take care of that.
If no kit is used, then the spring ends should be ground flat, and moly applied to it, a thrust washer lightly coated in PTFE, installed in the piston before the spring is reinstalled, will help take care of the torque of the spring during firing cycle.
Some JM Black tar....Air rifle headquarters., along the length of the spring that goes inside the piston.
Some clear lube...dielectric tune up grease on the spring guide.
Some moly on the piston just below the seal and at the bottom of the piston and along the inside top of the receiver, under the scope rail, this will help to prevent gauling as the piston is shoved against the wall during cocking.
Just for starters if interested.

the kids suggestion is sound! if you have some grinding I think it would be wise to address this before it causes any damage that maybe more costly!

I had a friend put in a JM kit in my 34. Amazing diffrence. Easier to cock, nicer to shoot. I really like it. Maked it more accurate too.

thanks again for the replies. i think i am gona do at least some sort of a lube any way. i read that these rifles come prety dry. where are your guys sources for these kits and parts? i have seen a few online like vortex but want to look at all my options before i buy. the only thing holding me back now is building a spring compressor. would you guys change those washers where the barel bolts on?
skip. do you ever get down toward parkersburg? i would love to check out that tuned 34. does your friend that helped you live close? morgantown is not too far away for me if he would be willing to give me some guidence.

Your numbers look good as any of the others have said. Let it break it some. 500 more. If you dig into it and it cr@ps out, and you damage your main tube, etc ....you've just shot your warranty... and the gun. Putting a couple drops of lube on the cocking slot and general external surface lubing, is easy to do and won't void anything.

Do you have a specific problem? Or is this response to your reading? You may have a properly lubricated powerplant unit.

1 It's new. The metal edges are probably still rough. It's a $200 gun so they won't be finely finished/fitted.
2 It's only been fired less than 300 times. It takes time to settle in. You will see a change when it hits 500 shots.
If you wanna... look where the barrel connects to the cocking arm, and lightly lube it. Then look where the guides ride in the stock, and lightly lube them. Use a good light oil. Slowly half cock it to distribute it and excercise it. That'll help it.
